This is my first post in the "Other Music" forum. I usually hang out on the Porch. Anyway....i could think of no other tread to start then one for Page. He's the man.

So what's you're favorite Jimmy Page guitar solo, riff, song, project other then Zeppelin, subliminal Satanic message, quote, whatever.

I have too many to list....but any live performance of Dazed and Confused...the Violin Bow solo in particular, is probably my favorite

I really dig the Walking into Clarksdale album too. Coverdale/Page and The Firm are cool too but they have too much of an 80's sound for me. Still, they're a nice change up from Zeppelin.

    Oh man......

Since I've started playing the guitar about a year and a half ago, I've started to appreciate Jimmy Page soooooo much more than I already did!!!

I liked Zeppelin before I started but man......he really is amazing!!

Whenever I watch their self titled DVD he blows me away everytime. I especially like The Ocean on that and everything actually!!

He knows the guitar like it's the back of his hand......amazing.

if you take into account his playing, the riffs he's written over the years and his production skills, then i reckon Jimmy Page is the greatest ever.

Looking forward to some new music from him this year! He's also playing at the upcoming Atlantic Records party for Ahmet Ertegun - Robert Plant is also on the bill. Wonder if they'll play a few songs together? It'd be amazing :)

I like everyone else agree Zeppelin was the best.
I was also lucky enough to catch Page & Plant a few years back . All good shows.

Another standout was when Jimmy teamed up w/ Paul Rodgers and they created " The Firm " .
These were good shows also, and as someone already mentioned- the solos with the bow in hand stand out .

I remember Jimmy took centersatge at one point, and they incorporated a laser light " pyramid " , that started at 1 point at the top, then came down to 4 points on the floor surrounding Jimmy.
Every time he would touch the bow to the guitar, the pyramid would make 1 complete circular revolution. A little smoke and alcohol made this even more wild ! It was a spectacle to see and hear .
    Jimmy is the Man .

Good god - it drives me f*cking crazy when any Rock fan does'nt appreciate just how great Page is. I can hear traces of Page & the Might Zep in just about every band out there - the Great Pearl Jam included!

    Show the proper respect people!

  • Jimmy Page is a god.
  • it has been over 20 years and i still think that bron-yr-aur is the best guitar playing i have ever heard...i place jimmy page as #1 and jimi hendrix #2.

Where do you think I got my name.

Flat out amazing. In the realm of rock guitar there is no one that matches him.

Hendrix is close, but he doesnt have near the diversity, and more sloppy than Page, which is the only gripe I ever hear about Page.

he is a big influence. He took the guitar to a whole other level.

As a beginner in guitar, he is the guy I look up to, as far as wanting to be like, to be as good as him.

As far as my own list of top guitarists he would be number 2, behind jimi hendrix. I dont think he would be offended, given that even he said Jimi hendrix was the best guitarist ever.

How can anyone say Hendrix is above Page? Page's playing was every bit as emotional as Hendrix(Ten Years Gone, Since I've Been Lovin You) plus Page had a way better sound, live and in the studio. And talk about groundbreaking.

Jimmy Page single handedly created the greatest rock band ever. He picked the absolut best personel, and they he made sure that everything sounded just like he wanted it. It took all of them to make Zeppelin, to be sure, but Page was the genius behind it all

I love Hendrix, and this is no knock on him. Jimmy Page is just that good.

Same here :) Ever since I picked up the guitar, my apprecitation for him and his skills has grown tremendously. He is just AMAZING. I could watch him play guitar for hours. The way he plays it, it's like the guitar is a part of him, like you said "He knows the guitar like it's the back of his hand" :D
He is my favorite guitarrist (Mike comes in second :p used to be first...hehe)

    Ya Juli!!

In the studio it's unreal, but when I watch live stuff......it's just incredible!!

I love listening to Zeppelin all the time but lately I've been listening to it high, and it takes it to a whole new level.....I know that kinda sounds wrong but it's true.

I would say Jimmy Page is the best guitar player ever, I think the most creative too :)
