hmm, that is too hard! i have everything up till the final cut, nothing after roger split (it's not that bad but to me, not floyd, kinda like gilmour's solo albums good, but not floyd)
when i used to trip 'a saucerful of secrets' is what i would listen to right after dropping, by the time the cd ended i'd be feeling reeeeaaaaal nice
maybe obscured by clouds or meddle (altho i don't like meddle as much as live), the early 70's were my favorite era (like kqed!!) especially on the few shows they played 'childhood's end'!!!!
I might say Animals or Wish You Were Here, but i disliked the 2nd guitarist for the Animals tour.
i like Syd's solo stuff a lot more than piper... and 'jugband blues'
standin above the crowd
he had a voice that was strong and loud and
i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
eager to identify with
someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way
i know it's hypothetical but since that song already really exists, why would they put Syd's name there on the credit hypothetically?
Because Syd would have hypothetically wrote lyrics for it. Rick is "quoted" as saying he isn't good at writing lyrics in that story, so presumably Syd would add to or write all the lyrics for that (and Remember A Day).
another Division Bell fan? Waters would be PISSED
Let him be. The Division Bell is underrated, and over 12 years later still sounds great. I love a lot about Pink Floyd, from Syd-era to Live8, and TDB is one of my favorite albums in their history.
As for Set the Controls, even with Random Precision and The Pink Floyd Encyclopedia and any other book that is somewhat definitive, there is still a lot of debate about whether both Syd and Dave are on the track. I don't think it will ever be solved unless one of the band members is specifically asked about it and actually remembers it.
I would have to say Meddle, it has One if these days & Echoes say no more.
I think Piper is a Psychedelic classsic but it's not a fav PF album, Barrett's influence to me bearing in mind i've been a fan for 24 years makes it a complete seperate entity to the albums that followed, the best thing they ever did was kicking Syd out, if your a Floyd fan I can't see how you can deny this. If Syd had stayed he would have dragged the band down, no Waters taking over No DSOM or WYWH which for me is Pink Floyd, thats the albums I got into not Piper.
I would rather listen to OBC or Atom heart Mother to be honest, OBC after meddle was pointing towards what would become DSOM and it also has Childhoods End, Free Four & Wots uh the Deal, great songs!
Atom heart may have been an ambitious experiment that didn't quite work but i love it, I beleive that a lot of PF's mistakes were better than a lot of peoples triumphs.
Having said that I'm biased as they are my Fav band of all time!
Comments
Meddle and Dark Side would follow..
i even love the non-waters albums (though not nearly as much, admittadley)
