Does anyone PERFER Audioslave to Soundgarden.

Note the word perfer so it's not about which band is better as we all have our own opinions. for me though, it's Audioslave. Soundgarden was great but I was (and still am) SO INTO Morello, Tim, and Wilk, They completely have a rock sound all their own. Some haters try to dismiss Morello as a distortion obsessed hack or something but I think he's the man. I almost flipped my lid when I heard that they had given up trying to replace Zach (B-Real from Cypress was a canidate) and decided to become a straight forward rock band with our generation's Robert Plant (Cornell). I liked the first Audioslave record and (at least to me) they've gotten better with every subsuquent album.

Audioslave all the way for me. but to their credit, Soundgarden remains the greatest band name ever.

    no way!
i like Audioslave but Soundgrden were pretty awesome!
no way they'll ever top songs like Boot Camp, Pretty Noose, My Wave, Like Suicide, Tighter and Tighter, Let Me Drown, etc. etc.

definitely looking fwd to Chris' solo album, whenever that its released
I had it all once I gave it back

Whether they top those Soundgarden songs or not, I still perfer Audioslave. and where in the world are the Badmoterfinger songs on your list of top songs?!?! PRIME Soundgarden in my humble opinion.

  • Im one of those Morello haters. Dude can fuck right off, and I might pay more attention to em. New record is okay....and if they put together a greatest hits now itd be a solid album, no more.

  • Not a chance, I was ever a fan of Rage as I found them to be very repettative and thay have brought that with them to audioslave. I appreciate morello as a guitarist the fact that he can get those sounds without using effects is really good but still repettative.

I always loved Soundgarden and thought that Chris' solo album was amazing really looking forwards to the next instalment.

That said I do like Audioslave.

Dont get me wrong, I love Audioslave, especially the new album, but they got NOTHING on Soundgarden.
I've faced it, a life wasted, and I'm never going back again.

Go and listen to either Superunknown or Badmotorfinger and you'll have your answer. Audioslave have NOTHING on Soundgarden. Sorry! :)

Soundgarden > Chris Solo >>>>> Audioslave.

I haven't even bothered with Relevations yet. The debut was alright but Exile bored me and the reviews of the Relevations make it sound like more of same - no thanks.
  • superunknown is one of the greatest rock albums ever made. there is very little that even compares, and that little is not audioslave. i do like audioslave, but its got none of the originality or creativity of soundgarden..

No. SG = AS x 10 .. only not boring.
All my favourite singers have stolen all of my best lines.
  • Audioslave live are awesome though!

Id seen them in Dublin and in Manchester on two consecutive tours and were definately the best band Ive seen live (and yes I have seen many!) until PJ in Dublin and Leeds!

    No. Love Soundgarden.

Entirely bored of Audioslave. Begining to hate Tom Morrelo, and Brad Wilks is in my opinion one of the most boring drummers of all time.

  • Did anyone ever hear Audioslave play 7 nation army (White Stripes song)? That was the shit!

I cann't say which I prefer, I guess it depends on what mood I'm in.

Love both. Love the new cd.

    lol.
    what he said ...
Rage was never my thing, though i did dig where they were coming from.
That being said, i really wish they'd fucking lose Morello ... guitar genius or not ...

I saw the Slave at 9:30 club when they came through here before OOExile was released ... it was a fucking amazing experience, and my buddy and i had our mouths dropped in awe at Tom's mastery of the fretboard ...

... but again, that being said, i just can not stand that intensely groove-centric bulls-on-parade style half-of-every-song-is-the-same ... and i really wish Chris would get back to a more expansive song structure ...

the new album does push closer to SG in spots but is still off by miles of what i was hoping ...

    :(
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?

Couldn´t agree more. By the way, I have the boot of this AS concert you mentioned, it´s pretty good!

  • Audioslave are very good, all 3 of there cds kick ass. There 1st album being there best thats a classic album. But Soundgarden is better, I prefer there guitars much more. Morello is good but after a while he gets tiresome. Oh by the way Zach sucks.
