My dad thinks I'm gay because I kissed one guy, or a group of guys.
I mean, it is the 2000's after all.
If I could, think I would give in.

I think its like Good Charlotte style bands, and any band that kinda sounds like it could be punk or goth, but they are just whining about their girlfriends leaving them.

I think. Either way it has something to do with whining about crap.

But I've noticed that emo has expanded even out of that. What I've noticed is that people label a band emo if their singer has a whining voice or if they just don't like the band. IE, people think Guster is emo. I honestly don't see how they are. To me, they are folk rock, plus they aren't whining about anything.

Well, it used to be a different style of punk, right? But nowadays... it's consider those bands (GC, etc).

yeah it was an offshoot of punk back in the day. Nowadyas it is just applied to trashy poprock. I guess I don't really care about that anymore, because I would be fighting a retarded battle if I did.

Yeah, it's definitely not worth fighting over. It still makes me angry when a band that doesn't deserve to be labeled emo, does. Oh well, I guess I'm a bitch.

Basically, the guy from Dashboard Confessional is considered to be the "godfather" of modern emo music. So I guess its music like that. Another band that people would consider emo is Death Cab, but I still like their music anyway :)

Death Cab rocks, I don't consider them emo at all. When I first heard the name, I was skeptical, then I heard their music and I loved it.

Oh, and probably the biggest emo band out there would be My Chemical Romance.
