I am looking for something hard and melodic. If I had to give a specific song as an example of what I like it would be Sky is Falling by Queens of the Stone Age. I want to hear hard guitars, but doesn't have to be fast. I want to hear the guitar riffs andmelodies, but I don't want it too "metal-y". Another preference is the vocals. I can't handle cookie monster growling, or SoCal teenage punks that all sound like Blink 182 (pet peeve). I like dudes that can sing. Also, I'm not into the rapid fire kickdrum sound that accompanies a lot of hard metal. I kinda like Mastodon except for the vocals and the drums.

Fire off any suggestions you may have. Thanks.

I like 'em real young. Like, did you ever see Paulina in her first "Sports Illustrated" layout? Well, that face, but with better headlights. You know how hers have kind of dimmed lately? Heidi Klums beams would do. And her teeth. Or, ooh, that Britney Spears girl. She's got great knockers. But she's a tad muscular. Uh, actually, you know what? Her ass would do, too, if she had a better grille. Like, uh, Michelle Pfeiffer back when she did "Grease 2". But she'd have to be a little smilier than Michelle. Kinda like Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, before she got Stamosed. But not as skinny. Someone a little meatier, like Heidi. But without the accent. You know those accents: yah-yah-yah-yah. They really get old fast. You know what I mean. Someone like that.

Ha...I was just going to say the same thing about your Porcupine Tree suggestion. One of my favorite bands. How did I forget them???

Well i've never met anyone who did not like brann (mastodon's drummer) drumming. I like it a lot because he does not ride his double bass like so many other metal drummers do he employs more of a jazz metal fill style that i think is really some of the best i've heard in a very long time. to each their own though.

Did you like Pantera? Perhaps Phill's other band Down might be to your liking the guitarist from Corrosion of Conformity is in it and it has a good feel to it and phil actually sings a bit more then he did in Pantera. Their album NOLA is the one to check out.

I love the Baroness. They may be a little to heavy for you liking but their new album "The Red" is fucking awesome. They get the cross between mastodon and isis description a lot. I think the vocals are better. They still pull some cookie monster style vocals but they litter some singing in too.

Feel free to check out their live show on the above address. You may have to hit pause and let it load for like 10 min so you don't have constant lag. It is a pain but i think the site it is hosted on is still new.

Definitely. On the new album, there are some fine examples as well. Hole in the Earth, Cherry Waves and my personal favourite, Riviere, which is really a pretty stunning song. Chino's voice is amazing! Dont listen to much metal but deftones have been in my top ten since i was about 16, about 7 years ago. Ill stop hijacking this thread with deftones talk though sorry lol But check out Riviere. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfaFFUYAVI4

Nice. You going to Clutch next month in Cambridge?

Quicksand - Slip. This is painfully close to what you are looking for.

Baroness and Clutch need to be looked at also.

Both shows...definitely. Just saw them last week in CT, also. One of the best live shows going...
