They are coming to St. Louis in April, and I think the show has sold out. I wanted to go and would have paid $25 to see them, but now the cheapest ticket I can find is $60. For those of you who have seen them live - are they worth $60?

it was one of my favorite shows i've seen...but then again i just had a great experience being right in the front. but they sounded great.
"Last time I think we played that song here was like, a long time ago, and there was a bonfire in the back and people were like throwing each other into it...very exciting days but a huge fucking relief that that's not how it is tonight..." Ed Irvine Night 1 2003, after Deep

Absolutely Not. Unless you are a huge fan of the band. Then i'm sure you will love them no matter what, but i saw them once in a smaller venue (variety playhouse in Atlanta) and opening for pearl jam in asheville. And Both times i found myself slightly board.

I am a fan of the band and i think they make good music it is fun to listen to on the cd's but for whatever reason live they just never really bring it. They started off kind of strong but then lost speed.

That is just my opinion again if you are a huge DCFC fan then it may be worth it but i think 60 bucks for them is a bit much. Save that money for a pearl jam ticket ;)

60 fucking whole american dollars !?!

i could get plastered at the local hole and bang my head in to a wall for hours without feeling pain for that kind of cash ...

... possibly more fun, as well.

but i guess whatever floats your boat.

it was fun to watch the singer shuffle his feet back and forth endlessly like he was doing the shimmy at Reading in '04 ... i'll give you that much.

If I opened it now would you not understand?

$60, no way. I think DCFC are okay, but have never been impressed by their live shows. A friend who is a bigger fan feels the same way.

  • Hell no. Even 25 is steep for them.
  • the only band member worth watching is ben gibbard and all he does is bob back and forth the whole time. you could watch the bassist cuz he jumps around, but his hair is dumb and annoying to look at. the rest of the band simply plays and makes no attempt to perform. also, you will deal with a bunch of 14 year old girls trying to take pictures the whole time so you can't even see. they did sound really good when i saw them, but everything was played exactly the same way as on their records. stars opened for the them and put on a much better show. thats my experience, maybe yours will be better. the highlights of death cab's performance for me were ben gibbard coming out solo and playing "i will follow you into the dark" and all of stars coming out to sing "transatlanticism" with death cab
  • I saw them before I knew anything about them and they were amazing. The bassist is incredible and fun to watch. I saw them at Calvin College in the Fieldhouse (gym). The entire building was shaking. Amazing. I paid $15 for DCFC and Ben Kweller as an opener. Good stuff.

Then I saw them at the Delta Plex (again in G.R., Mi) for the VFC tour and it wasn't as good. It was still very enjoyable though.

Not worth $60 unless you can recite their entire catalogue. Great band but not that great.

No way in hell I'd pay 60 bucks to see Death Cab...they were alright opening for PJ, but I was pretty bored at the same time...
Stay positive and love your life
    Hooray Florida shows

I love the band but find their live shows a little dull.
It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.

to me its hard to make your cd's especially the softer ones catch that certain "magic" live. So, unless you really dig them i doubt you'l be floored. But they do play alot of rare stuff....sometimes...
    ITS MY BLOOOOOOODDDDDD!!!!!!!!!
  • Thanks for all the posts - since I'm not a huge fan I do not think I will pay $60 to see them. Especially if they are not so special live. I'll wait until next time.
