are the latest additions to my collection. Pinback sounds great from first listen & im sure NP will grow, was expecting bit of a challenging listen with that one. all in all, pretty happy :D

anyone have any thoughts on either of these?

  • After a few listens, I think Pinback is a good cd, but has only two great songs, How We Breathe and From Nothing to Nowhere.

yeah, had another listen last night & it seems...dare i say....matured? maybe just the production or something. there's certainly no prog, syracuse or fortress but there's other things in there that i wouldn't expect from pinback that'll keep me coming back to it. some of the songs have a real epic quality to them, and their use of multi-layered vocals is, as always, outstanding. maybe not quite as funky in places, close to rocky in others, but in any case a very enjoyable album. time is the only indicator though :)

saw them tonight at a free cd release show at Lou's in encinitas...great show, bought the vinyl, got it signed & chatted w/ them for a minute. haven't put it on yet though but from the show was enjoying the new stuff.
"Last time I think we played that song here was like, a long time ago, and there was a bonfire in the back and people were like throwing each other into it...very exciting days but a huge fucking relief that that's not how it is tonight..." Ed Irvine Night 1 2003, after Deep

    Sweet!

I'm going catch the in store in Hollywood tonight. I'll have to pick up my copy and get it signed. Haven't heard it yet but I can't imagine being dissapointed with a new Pinback record
