The artwork for the long awaited new album from alternative rock act the Smashing Pumpkins has been unveiled.
The cover of Zeitgeist shows a drowning Statue of Liberty against a bright red background and was designed by legendary illustrator Shepard Fairey.
"Like a great artist can do, Shepard had summed up very simply a lot of complex themes," Pumpkins front man Billy Corgan said on the band's Myspace page.
"He also used the type font from our very first single, and I asked him about it and he had no idea. He was just on point."
The album's first single, Tarantula, is to be released worldwide on May 22, followed by the album on July 10 - the band's first new material since machina/The Machines of God in 2000.
Other new song titles announced include Doomsday Clock, United States and For God And Country.
The Pumpkins are set to embark on a worldwide tour, including a performance at Al Gore's Live Earth concert series.
