Melvins Live...

I was at the Melvins show in Haarlem last night at the Patronaat in Haarlem. A lot of firsts... I've never seen the Melvins, never been to the Patronaat and never been to Haarlem.

The show was pretty damn phenominal. We arrived after porn had played so I can't say anything about them. Big Business started as just Jared Warren on bass and Coady Willis on drums. He is a pretty amazing drummer. I have listened through the new album a couple of times so I knew some of the songs. After a few songs, Dale Crover joined on guitar. When you've not heard grungey noise guitar live for a while it's just electrifying to hear it again.

He then went off and after a few more Big Business Songs, Buzz Osbourne joined in... Then Dale Crover in and they became the melvins... but with two drummers, playing the same parts in unison.... The show was pretty damn phenominal. The mirror image drum thing works really well - although I still feel like I've never seen Dale Crover live, cos I never saw him solo which is a shame.

I went to the show on wednesday. It was definitely interesting.
I liked the drummers and their unison drumming a lot. Very very cool. Not many bands can do that, at least I havent seen it or heard it :o
I like how they work as a band, they're definitely coherent (if thats the right word), I mean, they all seem to work well together and are so into their music. I respect that.
It just isnt my cup of tea their sound. I dont like the fact that they have no iteraction with the audience. Crover actually said someting like: yarghhhhhh! Thank you, thank you. Hvala (thank you in croatian). The YARGH sounded like he's a pirate, haha, and he actually wore a pirate skull shirt. too funny. and he was wearing his shorts, underwear i think
Their appearence certainly is something and their sound, I went to the show out of curiosity and thats it. ;)
