The Evens
(Featuring Ian MacKaye & Amy Farina)

From their website: THE EVENS "serve up a welcome slice of stripped-down, almost folk-like, variations on typical rock approaches. Their sound relies on intimacy as much as intensity, and their lyrics are as politically charged as they are emotionally wrought. Yet at the heart of the band's dynamic is a certain quietude and sensitivity that ties all this together into a strong pop sensibility.
With their second album, Get Evens, the duo delve further into their own musical backgrounds and come out brandishing a shiny gem of agit-pop, building on the warmth of their debut with a robust, confident record that encapsulates the attitude of post-Fugazi Dischord just as Minor Threat and Fugazi spoke for their own generations. MacKaye has matured as a songwriter, broadening his scope without losing focus, and he and Farina here offer up a perfectly-formed piece of songwriting".

Has anyone been to one of their shows?

5 dollars man!

  • Nah, but when Ian came to speak to my school last month, I chatted with him a bit about the Evens. He said he hopes to get down in New Orleans by Feb.
