i just heard a new TOOL song called "the pot" on the radio.
it's so much better than 10000 days i reckon.
well i like it more anyway.
maynards voice is clear and strong and the bass is wicked.
it reminds me of opiate. similiar vox and bass does it.
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say

Considering there are only five listenable songs on the album (Vicarious; Jambi; 10,000 Days; The Pot; and Right in Two) you are absolutely right. I've been listening to "Right in Two" a lot more than the other songs lately - reminds me of something that would be on Aenima.

Has anyone, anywhere, held that notion?

once you get past the first couple of weird verses, rosetta stoned turns into a pretty cool song

They definitely threw in some pretty weird changes in there. I would say the most mind boggling song they have ever done.

Wings for Marie/10k Days is the greatest work Tool has ever put together.

Did the people that are bitchin about it even listen to it? Absolutely beautiful.

The Pot is not about pot, its about the pot calling the kettle black. Kind of a throwback to Hooker with a Penis.

    The Pot:

Who are you to wave your finger?
You must have been out your hair.
    Eye-hole deep in muddy waters,
    You practically raised the dead.

Rob the grave to snow the cradle,
    Then burn the evidence down.

Soapbox house of cards and glass,
So don’t go tossing your stones around.

    You must have been high
    You must have been high
    You must have been…

Foot in mouth and head up ass, so whatcha talking ‘bout?
Difficult to dance round this one, till you pull it out, boy.

You must have been so high.
You must have been so high.

Steal, borrow, rape and save your shady inference.
Kangaroo done, hung the juror with the innocent.

Now your [weeping sheeps/withered seeds] are chosen,
And the golden images up in your...
    High, eye.

When you pissed all over my black kettle, you must have been high, high.
You must have been high, high.

Who are you to wave your finger? So full of it.
Eyeballs deep in muddy waters, Fucking hypocrite.
Liar, lawyer, mirror show me, what’s the difference?
Kangaroo done, hung the guilty with the innocent.

Now your [weeping sheeps/withered seeds] are chosen.
And the golden images up in your…
    High, high.

When you pissed all over my black kettle, you must have been…

So who are you to wave your finger?
Who are you to wave your fatty fingers at me?
You must have been out your mind.

Leaving things out in the ground, trapped without a reason, leaving things out in the ground…

Liar, lawyer, mirror, for ya, what’s the difference?
Kangaroo, beast, don’t needs guilt in every government.

Now your withered seeds are chosen.
And the golden images up in your eye, eye.

When you pissed all over my black kettle, you must have been high, high, high, high.
Eyeballs deep in muddy waters. Eyeballs deep in muddy waters.
    Catch up with lies.
You must have been out your mind.

Don't pass on Wings for Marie/10,000 days. These two songs are epic! Very spiritual and touching songs that are prob my fave on the new album. They may not be singles that you can listen to once and appreciate, but after a few listens, the beauty of these songs, and Maynards lyrics is really incredible. The climax of the song is amazing!

i am figuring this to be an old post where you have yet to discover the greatness of rosetta stoned.

"And after calming me down with some orange slices and some fetal spooning
ET revealed to me his singular purpose
He said, “You, are the chosen one.”
“The one who'll deliver the message.”
“A message of hope for those who choose to hear it, and a warning for those who do not.”
Me, the chosen one. They chose me, and I didn't graduate from fuckin' high school."

Lotta love for Rosseta Stoned here. When I first heard it I was'nt into it but, I knew it would grow on me, and it has. My favourite off 10000 days.

wings for marie (part 1) is good but 10,000 days (part 2) is absolutey stunning. it is a total masterpiece. from when maynard sings

"Set as I am in my ways and my arrogance.
Burden of proof tossed upon non-believers.
    You were my witness.
    My eyes, my evidence.
    Judith Marie, unconditional one. "

    the song is mindblowing
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"

The album is really growing on me. It did not get a lot of listens with the new PJ coming out at the same time. I am now just getting around to it.

I think "Right in Two" is my favorite song as well.
