Anyone here not listen to the radio?

There was a time during the early 90's, when I would obsessively listen to "Alt rock radio".
Now, 15 plus years later, I never listen to the radio. I couldnt tell you who any of the top alt rock bands are right now.
Modern day alt rock seems so different from the music of old!
And oddly, even though I am not hip to modern rock, or at least mainstream rock labeled as alternative, I frankly couldnt feel happier about it.
Doesnt seem like I am missing much.
I am happy in my niche of indie rock.

I mainly don't listen to it because they don't play music. There's always some show or DJ talking. It's kinda like MTV for your ears.

I would say the only time I listen to the radio is when my alarm goes off. To persuade me to get out of bed, it's on the other side of the room. When I wake up to fucking Nickelback or something, I'm outta bed instantly to turn that sucker off.
I've done whatever I can to make sure I can listen to whatever music I want, whenever I want, wherever I am. That's the beautiful part about file sharing. Back in the day, you'd have to hope that you hear a certain song on the radio, now you can just download everything you want to listen to. The way I see it, someone who is really into music will never be able to afford all of the recordings they want to listen to. Well, unless they're crazy rich. That's my best argument for allowing free downloads.
I find it hard to suffer through Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Interpol, the Killers and Dashboard Confessional all day to get to one Radiohead or KOL song.
Same goes for classic rock stations....how many times will I have to listen to Dream Weaver or Bad Company before I get a Pink Floyd song.
but I've found it much easier to take Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Ray Price and Narvel Felts all day.

Music radio over here sucks big time!
Same here.....
Been recently to LA and heard their stations and I was amazed. So much classic rock and was introduced to the Series Satellite network where listeners can hear endless Grateful Dead (or whoever they would like to listen to). Because I was with a group of GD and Dylan fans they tuned into those stations.
I didn't have a heart to tell them I'm more into metal and prog rock.
Here, in the UK - and I can't speak for the South West where Nuffingman comes from because I'm from the South east, radio actually does suck. We have (In Kent) Invicta and KMFM - both stations play R&B chart hits and nothing else. I only listen to internet radio stations, KPIG is a good one for the Country fan, and Paradise.com isn't too bad. Elbow and Arcade Fire is usually played on that station.
More internet radio stations from the UK worth listening to is:-
1) http://www.Radiocaroline.co.uk
2) http://www.planetrock.co.uk (playing classic rock al la LA radio )
So apart from Myspace and Internet radio stations, I hardly listen to any
mainstream radio.
Is it because I’m old now, or because radio format sucks? or are all new rock bands sound the same to me. cookie-cutter music. cheesy.
I used to love the radio. Now I only listen to xm satellite occasionally. it's all about the ipod baby.
I use rolling stone mag, this forum, youtube to find new music.
Quite frankly, I don’t know why the radio’s still around except for emergencies.
