Do you consider yourself part of a musical scene/movement?

In general it seems this board, and its members dont really like to be identified with a scene or a musical movement or a generation.

But I am sure there are some who do.

For those who do, what scene do you feel a part of, and why?

Possible I'm too lazy. I mean that takes alot of dedication to dress in a "scene". I like how others come up with the Emo or Gothic, whatever look. But if I were to do that, I'd just laugh at my self.

Scenes are stupid. Unless we're talking about Movies.

I'm a DC hardcore kid born 20 years too late and 4000 miles too far east.

I'd say I'm a fan of scenes but i don't subscribe to any as a way of life, except for maybe the more pacifist side of the folk/jamband scene.
I’ve seen Pearl Jam 25 times, Eddie Vedder 9 times, and Brad once.
  • I'm a scene unto myself.

And it's a crappy one, too.
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.
  • I never understood the whole "scene" thing...

To me it seems like an act, or kids that have no identity, so they dress and act a certain way just to fit in with someone. I don't know...

well mostley kids are on the way to find their identity and that s one reason why they dress and act a certain ..did not we all do that ...

If there's one thing I have to say against The Hold Steady, it's the slightly elitist 'Unified Scene' that their fans have set up. It's basically hipsters in those stupid glasses.

i love the hold steady. how was i not informed of a unified scene? but i will admit, their fans in large part seem to be the kind of people i hate. though they do have a large segment of semi-normal people.

  • i'm not cool or hip enough to be part of a scene. and that's just fine by me. i don't need to be categorized
  • i dabble in the hipster-retro-trumpet scene and i've got my right foot in the indie-prog scene while my heart lies in the hardcore neuro-funk dub scat scene. im all confused.
