this band doesnt get enough love on the board. Maybe some people assume its emo. If its emo, its top of the line emo!

I think there are albums like Nevermind or Vitalogy or Dirt that change peoples lives. that seem to speak to your life and make everything technicolor when it all was black and white.

For me Transatlanticism is one such album. Not a bad song on it. Yet you hope the album never ends. Intricate and haunting lyrics, layered melodies. its the perfect album

the brilliant title and registration and its pulsing beat and heartwrenching lyrics, the pop of Sound of Settling, the mindblowingly poignant guitar line that is the basis of Tiny vessels, the mammoth Transatlanticism, and the final haunting and sparse A Lack of Color

this album would be in my top 5 albums of all time

Death Cab to me, are a band that makes great pop music. they make great melodies.

that is rough ... if you have those memories while listening to those songs ... gut wrenching.

For me ... it's easily one of the top 5-8 albums of this decade thus far.

gladly will second and support this thread. can't go wrong here.

best fast track = we looked like giants
best slow track = passenger seat (although a lack of color is mighty close)

it's a pretty special record alright. pick any song on the album, it's a gem. tiny vessels is brutal, new year, lack of color, TRANSATLACISM, i don't know where to start. sound of settling is just perfect. if you guys haven't already, check out their tour film from that album, 'drive well, sleep carefully'. great representation of the band moving from indie darlings to a major label.

  • Word, it's definitely my favorite Death Cab album. Tiny Vessels into Transatlanticism into Passenger Seat is just an awesome trio there.. so good.
If I could, think I would give in.

I always get nostalgic this time of year for Transatlanticism. I went to the first four VFC PJ shows in '04 not being previously exposed to DCFC. Bought this cd to listen to on the drive from GR to STL after the first three nights of watching them open for the mighty PJ. Incredible album. It is very moving.

I have a vinyl copy that sounds amazing on my main stereo set-up. The low end parts from Lightness are simply bottomless!

I've been really pleased with their last three releases -- Trans is my fave, though.

I got excited to see this thread! I actually listened to Transatlantacism on my way to work today. Its one of my all time FAVS! I recently just purchased it on vinyl and am looking forward to giving it a listen. I remember back in 2003 I was in my friends car and he said to me "You've got to hear this band/song!" and he put on Title and Registration. I was like "Wow i really like this. Its original and sounds amazing" I bought it a few days later. My favs are "We looked like giants" and "tiny vessels".
