Playing the same night a founding member dies is kinda strange, I think. I can understand finishing the tour as a tribute but not taking a break after something like that just ain't right...

I think they're in the best position to decide what's right for them. Dave apparently said at the show tonight that although they were mourning there was no place they'd rather be then playing music together. It may have been difficult, but it also may have been the best thing.

Maybe. But I also thought it looked bad to replace him on the tour after the ATV injury. I don't know what's in Dave's head but from an outsider's perspective it looks like he's continuing for reasons other than grief, IMO.
Sorry for the bands loss and his familys loss but lets all be honest and get back to the topic at hand...Dave Matthews hasnt put out a good album in MANY years and he should retire. Thats my opinion and I'm sticking to it

Well, however it looks, it's not the case, especially when you consider that Roi pressed them to continue the tour. They're professionals, and they don't want to cancel an entire tour on their fans. You'd think having the moral strength to continue playing on an evening when a close friend had died, for themselves and for the audiences, should be celebrated, not questioned.

I'm a huge DMB fan, and I think all of their studio albums suck. It's what they do with the songs live that make them amazing (even the newer stuff).

Exactly - they know what is best for them and I know Dave is telling the truth when he says they'd rather be on stage than mourning by themselves.
Some time off, maybe no tour next summer? Yes.
Breaking up for good? Of course not.
Butch was never important to the band - he only came in 1999 and Tim Reynolds is a hundred times better.
I would love them to keep the current lineup and keep touring (Dave, Boyd, Card, Stefan with Tim Reynolds, Rashawn Ross, & Jeff Coffin).

lots of people could say the same thing about pearl jam (not having a decent studio album in many years). personally, i haven't been all that crazy about anything from binaural on. i remember getting new pearl jam albums and loving everything on them. but starting with binaural, they've been off (to me). do i think they should retire? no. i just wish they'd come out with something that would blow me away like they used to.
