While there some some sexually suggestive lyrics in in some, there is no outright profanity in any of them.

I got to say I am a little bit envious of you right now.  Here's why, this  music has been with me for 40 years now. Theres nothing really new for me to discover. Recalling first listens is hard after all this time.

I have to say that I am damn excited to begin this new musical journey. I have always resisted this band. I didn't really like Plant's vocals, but I feel differently, now. Whatever music I don't like, I try to keep my mind open and keep trying to understand what others see in it. I am still not a Beatles fan, but I do love George Harrison's stuff. So, yeah, thanks! I am enjoying discovering all about Led Zeppelin.

Its Jimmy and Bonzo. Some of the best guitar and drum tracks ever recorded IMHO.

overlooking JPJ's contributions is a travesty.

Not overlooking JPJ, it's just me and my tastes.

what was your entry?

It was small, incremental steps throughout decades. First was the many times I watched Fast Times at Ridgemont High and hearing "Kashmir" when Rat and Stacy were on their date. I could never deny that song thumps. Then there was Chris Cornell's voice in early SG that reminded me somewhat of Plant's stylings. In high school, I was the kid drawing the Dead Kennedys and Social Distortion logos on my pee chee folders, while others were drawing Zepp and Maiden. Now, I dig it all.

Listening to side 2 of Led Zeppelin "IV" searching for that song was something else😂

First time I recall hearing Led Zeppelin was shooting baskets at a junior high/ high school neighbor's house when I was probably in 4th/5th grade.  "Black Dog" was the track I remember the most. 😲🤘🔥

lol...I've got a similar story. I remember driving home from church in the back seat of my Dad's car and hearing Black Dog on the radio and was just blown away.  Probably 1980 or so...I would have been around 12

and then a few years later we listened to Stairway backwards in sunday school to examine the satanic shit that everyone was going on about back then....we had really cool youth ministers that exposed that as bogus

Anyone remember the real backwards message the J. Geils band put in the song "No Anchovies Please"?
After the line "Upon awakening she finds herself in a strange foreign speaking nation" you get what sounds like a couple of lines of folks speaking some unknown language.
Played backwards it said, "It doesn't take a genius to know the difference between chicken shit and chicken salad".

Yeah it was a big deal. Our youth ministers also would play dungeons and dragons with us during youth group to show that it was harmless

We had a minister that would try to read our minds. It worked, but to say something in a room full of teens " someone had an argument with their mom about earings" 7 out of 10 times you will hit. Interesting person. Pretty sure he grew away from the church, but whatever.
Back to Led Zep.
Like someone said. Every record has good songs. Even the one they 'borrowed' from Howling Wolf. Forget which one off the top of my head. But I know at first no credit was on the record. Then they had to add his name on later pressings.

I think In Through the Out Door is tragically underrated. 

I'm not sure if I've said it before in this thread, but for the record, it is my belief that Led Zeppelin is the greatest band that has ever existed, and that John Bonham is the greatest drummer of all time, and ranks in the top 5 of greatest musicians of all time.

Just had 'Dazed and Confused' on. My god plants vocal is not from this world. its frightening how unbelievable he was. Number 1 for me all time vocalist.

it seemed neither had they. and to get to see the look on the faces during that yardbirds run....

I came to say this too.  The band seemed very happy to hear their friends voice again.
