Another hip hop thread. Mobb Deep should go down in history as one of the better hip hop acts ever. Not a fan of there most recent work, but their first 3 or 4 records are flawless. Up until around 1999 or so, they still even when P Diddy and mainstream rap was all about bling, they still were talking about life in the projects.
The use of minor tone colors is genius. Completely intense music. As a white kid who grew up around white faces and white neighbors and friends, this record woke me the hell up, to the hell that is the projects and inner city life.
Hell of a rap crew.
And those who say Shook Ones Part II is the greatest song in hip hop history, I may have to agree with you. Although Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth's TROY is also a damn good song as well
