Anyone else just LOVE music?
I find myself listening to music not as a background sound or something to tap my feet to, but as something as important to me as water and food.
I listen to songs and here guitar riffs that blow me away, or melodies that are unreal. I was listening to a song the other day and was blown away by the melody that the lyrics were sung to.
I find myself remembering the day I heard Nevermind and Ten. How I can remember everything about that day. How I have been searching 15 years now for cd's and bands that cause me to react the same way.
I find myself thinking songs and melodies are just beautiful.
I buy alot of cd's, not because I am materialistic, but because I want EVERY cd to blow me away, to make my jaw drop, to leave me dumbfounded.
I want to declare my love for music, the way it has made me feel, and continues to make me feel.
It speaks to me. I had a tough childhood and PJ and Nirvana comforted me and still do. They dont deny my experiences and feelings, all they ask is that you listen. Parents that werent around, abuse, thats my story. And its all in the music.
I even find meaning in the music, listening to Uncle Neil's Greendale record, I took it as a touching aging hippie telling the new generation to start doing something. When neil says, "You've got a job to do, you've got to save mother earth, save the planet for another day." I take that as my motto. To me thats why I was born. Thats my job. I will take it.
I find it angersome sometimes when all these people just listen to music in the club, and dont care about the message or the quality of the music. To me, music is who I am. I listen to the music, and it becomes part of me. It is an influence.
I have been waiting 15 years to feel as I did when I first heard Ten or Nevermind. I am hoping the new PJ record and the slate of others RHCP, Ben harper and others provide me some comfort and provide some awe inspiring moments.
Simply put, music is my life. As ed said music saved my life
