Am listening to Nutshell...woW! Anyone else listen to Alice and feel like it is almost music that is December music? Like when you listen to it, it makes you think of winter?

Dirt is one of the most powerful records ever.

Alice in Chains really is one of those bands where it's so much more than music I swear. :o

And yes, I totally know what you mean about the "December" vibe Cheguevara6. JAR OF FLIES is like that bigtime for me. Jar Of Flies and No Code are just 2 albums that I instantly relate to winter. They just have that feeling/vibe down.

Jar Of Flies is one of my fav albums ever. Quality over quantity. I'll never get over the greatness of this band. Nutshell? YEP...WOW! It is indeed such an amazing, gorgeous, sad, hauntingly beautiful song ( so many of those from AIC huh?:p ) Really though, makes me feel the loss of the man 100 times more. These words just ring way too true and make the heart hurt. :( Dark & beautiul...the story of AIC. Such power, such raw emotion, such brutal realness. This voice never fails to impact my mood. More than a voice, more than lyrics, more than songs, more than a band! Period!

Nicely said! There is nothing fake about AIC, they are the real deal! I miss Layne and AIC so much. I am glad they left us with such great music! AIC is my favorite band and their music is just out of this world.........nothing can compare. AIC will always have a special place in my heart!
We need Pearl Jam in Atlanta!!! 2006-2007

The dirty south needs a fix.
  • Would've loved to see them live...their so deep, beyond their mucis and lyrics..

i agree AiC are winter music, but also spring, summer and autumn music. nutshell is amazing. as is dirt, my vote for greatest album in history
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"
  • I totally hear you as well...Im an AIC fanatic, its a daily thing for me, I watch the Unplugged DVD at least once a week. Nutshell is such an epic song, those words man, intense. I like how someone on here had said, quality over quanity. Over Now..that song makes me think of Fall, the leaves changing. Its amazing to think that AIC and PJ (Mookie Blaylock) used to jam together on stage....its a definite bummer to know that no matter what concert I see it will never equal the magnitude of getting to see these 2 bands play together, let alone Alice. A sad story, but the music helps, Ill be an advocate to that.
  • Nutshell is summer for me; the whole unplugged album is and is the best summer i've ever had..great memories.
it's easy to confuse a great design with life's ripercussions

i'd rather die than give you control

The Unplugged album is any season for me. It's easily one of my favorite albums that I have ever heard. The power of their songs. Plus, I just love how the bluesy feel just shines on the accoustic versions of all their songs.
you couldn't swing if you were hangin' from a palm tree in a hurricane.
  • I gotta say, I've seen ( not in person ) the Pearl Jam and Stone Temple Pilots Unplugged shows, great shows. But to be honest the AIC was just incredible.
Thats the show that turned me onto AIC. It'd be beyond kickass for PJ to do a Unplugged show now, so many more songs, the maturity of their music and playing. I just gotta wonder, why in the world were either of these above mentioned shows never released? Please someone help me to understand?
  • Great post...

I always think of the fall when I listen to AIC... The second summer weather starts to go cold, the leaves start changing, I play their stuff religiously... I mean it works in all seasons, but I'd say since October of my Senior year of High School (2000) I've been going through this year in and year out... Whoever said that "Over Now" reminds them of the fall is on point... That bridge, to me, is leaves falling... I can't help but be reminded of the same colors when I hear it, yellows, oranges, reds, browns, -- real fall shit yano? I don't know maybe it's just me, but their music totally brings out this crazy nostalgia... All of it.

Summer records, I always think Ten, Vs, and Vitalogy, and Nirvana Unplugged all at once. My friend Kevin made me a mix tape of Pearl Jam and Nirvana back in The summer of 95, and I fell in love with those 2 bands. AIC came later, but still what a great band!!!
  • when i listen to alice in chains i get a fall feeling too, like walking down the street and you just hear the music and the wind hitting your face and the leaves just fall in your hair, i get the same feeling when i listen to sonic youth's sister album, there a great band aswell

Layne Stayley was a lyrical genius.

    Just saying.

Rotten Apple is their finest moment possibly. Nutshell, I Stay Away and Whale and Wasp are great too.
  • Just got back from the AIC here in Tulsa. They played "Confusion", for the first time in about 20 years Jerry said. I looked it up and setlist.fm website said it was last played 1991. Fucking great show.
