Uplifting music

I sort of am in a slump. I am really stressed out, about the war and life in general. Generally I listen to music, that reflects my mood, ie Pearl Jam's new one, Tool's new one, etc...

Anyone have any suggestions on good music that uplifts and could change my mood from being down in the dumps and in complete rage, to being calm and less stressed out?

Whats some good calm, chilling out music?

There will always be something that pisses you off. Gotta learn how to deal with it. U2's "Beautiful Day" never fails to pump me up.

  • john lennon - 'nobody told me(there'd be days like these), i'm stepping out, 'i don't wanna face it', 'borrowed time'. all songs he wrote just before he died. he was in an uplifting mood and these songs are upbeat and fun to listen to. i think they're all from the album 'milk and honey' or you can just download them.

tonight i downloaded a bunch of songs by a band id long forgotten about... suede. their third album "coming up" is one of the most uplifting albums ever. and they've got a lot of other great songs on there. 'the drowners' always puts a smile on my face.

i also dig oasis in those situations. there's so much fucking attitude on their first album. play columbia and you'll feel that snarl go right down to your bones and you'll feel like you can fuck the world.

  • Anything by Sigur Ros. Seriously. That has chilled me out considerably this past month or so. To give you some idea, I had quite a serious operation last October; since then, I've been getting post-op pains in my chest most days of the week. Since taking time to chill, relax (you could say 'meditate') with this stuff on the CD player, I've only had the pains for three days in the last month.

The untitled album is my favourite, but maybe I'd say the new one, Takk, is more 'uplifting'.

  • If you want to be calm then listen Neil's Prairie Wind album...
  • The Disco Biscuits- no other bands makes me smile more often. Pick up any of their trancefusion raido broadcasts or the live record the wind at four to fly.
