Heard he is really recommended listening, anyone heard of him?

    I have illionoise. I don't think it is bad. It actually has a few darn good songs. I think he is vastly overated for all the hype he seems to be getting over the last couple of years, but he is not a bad artist.

    I think his work is beautiful but a tad bloated. I enjoy it but I have a hard time recommending him to anybody.

    I admire his ambition though. Big time. I think he is an important artist.

    i tend to feel the same way about bright eyes. there's a lot of ambition there, but they tend to over-reach.

    my gf saw sufjan and said his show was hands down the best she'd seen outside of sigur ros. id have liked to have gone. i enjoy his stuff, but like you, sometimes it's a bit... too much. tough to put my finger on. kinda the opposite of bright eyes to me... bright eyes has that edgy, chaotic, losing control vibe, sufjan has a perfect controlled and sculpted orchestral sound.
