Am seeing them open for PJ over the summer, they are playing some solo dates over the summer as well.

Are they worth checking out again? Or will I have gotten a taste of them when they open for PJ

Silly question. Of course they are worth the bother. It is Sonic youth we're talking about. But I guess you're not a fan of this great band, or that style of music.

I saw them on the 2000 tour, and they were great. I have much respect for a band being around for that long. I think its been around 20+ years now. Incredible.

I do think it's a weird combination. Sonic youth and Pearl jam.
Will Sonic youth come to Europe as well? Does anyone know this?

Seen Sonic Youth TWICE on their last tour, one in Austin and the other in San Francisco...they totally KICK ASS LIVE! I HIGHLY recommend picking up their albums if you haven't heard much of them. Thurston Moore is INSANE when he is on stage. I remember the show at the filmore, he jumped into the crowd and said someone stole his guitar strap :p

this is truly a dream come true...sonic youth opening up for Pearl Jam. 3x of Sonic Youth and 3x Pearl Jam!! YEA!!! :D

i kinda saw them when they headlined lolopolooza...they played maybe 1/3 of a song then left the stage :(

but i really love their albums, especially sister thru Experimental Jet Set, Trash & No Star. i have a vinyl single w/ them and some dutch jazz type group that's pretty incredible, too.

and you can check out 1991: The Year Punk Broke. it's got a lot of live performances of them and some Nirvana and a few of others like dinosaur jr, has some footage they shot themselves, too, walking around
    standin above the crowd
he had a voice that was strong and loud and
i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
    eager to identify with
    someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way

Eddie loves them; Thurston and Kim adored Kurt; Kim Deal sang with Kim Gordon on Little Trouble Girl; Sonic Youth kicks ASS LIVE!! HIGHLY recommend seeing them whenever they hit a town near YOU!
