Anyone a fan of Jackson Browne? Very simple, powerful early 70's folk, pop and rock.

Late for the Sky is one of the most powerful statements ever about what the aftermath of a war can feel like.

His music is all about finding yourself and finding the answers.

Plus it makes great listening in the summer

Really like what I know by him (which is not enough). He's got a really great voice.

  • If PJ hadn't done "I Am A Patriot" I probably would've never started listening to him. He's awesome.
The time has gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say...

I remember listening to my mom's "Running on Empty" album when I was a kid. It's always brings such fond memories. He is such a talented songwriter and singer. After his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame I went out and bought The Very Best of... One of the best cd purchases I've made in years. What a great compilation.

I like Jackson Browne. I think he's kind of under-rated. He is in the R+R Hall of Fame but still I don't think gets the credit he deserves. "The Pretender" is one of the most beautiful albums ever made. It's too bad that his life was a mess. He probably could have done a whole lot more....

He played a few songs with Ben Harper in NYC on 9/19/2014. The show was at The Society for Ethical Culture which is a small theater-style space. When it was time for Jackson to join Ben on stage, he pretty much ran up from the audience and stepped up on stage (it's a low stage, probably no more than 2 feet high), which was kind of awesome!

Ben had this awesome story about going to Tower Records in the East Village when his first record came out, but there was none left on the shelf. Then one of the Tower Records staff recognized him and told him that they were all gone (even those in the back) "because Jackson Browne came in and bought em all".

Anyway, random story, thought Jackson Browne fans might like to hear!

I guess I'm gonna have to pick up another record.. Lol what would y'all recommend for a Jackson Browne N00b?
  • Loved Jackson Browne's contribution, Somebody's Baby to the Fast Times at Ridgemont High Soundtrack (one of the earlier movies with a definitive soundtrack featuring multiple artists).

    It's on every 80s playlist I make.

    Great song!

Not how I pictured him sounding though.

I still can't get over him writing "These Days" at age 16. Leaps and bounds ahead of where I and I'm sure a lot of people were at that age.

There's a Jackson Browne episode of "Off Camera" with Sam Jones that I caught most of on the Audience Channel on Directv Monday There's also a pretty good Dave Grohl episode of Off Camera floating around, too.

  • I'm 38 and I dig all sorts of music. There's was a time Jackson Browne was unknown to me. When I learned PJ played a song entitled I am a patriot written by some Jackson Browne, to me, that was just info, since I didn't even heard the song, until I got the boot long after (boot I lost when the PC broke down). Since I'm all about music I hang out with people alike, some are about 10 years older than me. We gather once a month to talk about life, our lives, and music. These meetings are arranged by the owner of a record store we all used to go, since the store no longer exists. Later on, I heard about Jackson Browne hanging with those people, that name rang the bell, but dind't recall from where. I read about him on magazines, even in Nick Hornby's 31 songs. I got curious about this artist. I regret that it took me so long to listen to his music. A couple of weeks ago I found in a record store in Buenos Aires, the city I live, Running On Empty, a brazilian edition, near mint, insert included, fo 50 pesos, about 5 USD. My god, this album is so great, i'm still not familiar with the lyrics, but I can't understand what he sings, and musically is superb, now I have to sit down, spin that wax again and read the lyrics in order to grasp the meaning, find out about the time, what was going on at the time those songs were written, and of course, getting some more JB vinyls. Your comments above are of great help. By the way, I've listened Running On Empty just a couple of times, last time was moments before I look for this thread, and before ROE, I spun Sonic Highways by the Foos, but I got this one later than ROE. When I was listening to In the clear by the Foos something was familiar, I came altogether when I listened to ROE, the song. Anyone else finds them sounding alike?
