Picture on cover of Zoso and in the liner notes

Was one of the first cd's I ever got. Recieved as a christmas present. And the cover with that bearded guy and the pile of sticks on his back, and then the picture in the liner notes of that guy with a light, and looking down on some village or something, have always haunted me. They are pretty mindblowing pictures. Anyone have any information on either of them?
