by sam beam. One of the best songs ever written, period.

it captures the feelings of growing up perfectly. the changability in the words "sun" and "son". and the line about the dog having pups in the pantry is one of the most stunning lines ever penned. Unreal in its descriptive power, and only a few lines.

Love it. Saw him live a few weeks ago and he is doing it in a totally different arrangement that is just amazing.
The Man has a branch office in each of our brains, his corporate emblem is a white albatross, each local rep has a cover known as the Ego, and their mission in this world is Bad Shit.

Beautiful song. I prefer Faded From the Winter though. That is incredible.

    Daddy's ghost behind you
    Sleeping dog beside you
    You're a poem of mystery
    You're the prayer inside me

    Spoken words like moonlight
You're the voice that I like

    Needlework and seedlings
    In the way you're walking
    To me from the timbers
    Faded from the winter
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"
