Any BUCKETHEAD fans out there?

I highly recommend that people give his music a chance. I just bought tickets to go see him in San Fran on the 25th... is anyone going? People usually get a puzzled look on their face when I say Buckethead is one of my favorite artists. They usually don't exoect someone with that name to be anywhere on a list that includes PJ, SG, RATM, DMB, Primus, SOAD, and Pink Floyd, but I hold him in such high regard.

The truth is that a lot of people hear the name "Buckethead" and they determine that it must be bad music based on the name... sound unheard. But the truth is that his music is some of the most innovative and creative of our era. In fact... I do not consider him a "rocker" or anything like that. I classify him as a modern composer as the music will fill your soul in ways that other music cannot. It entices imagery, fondness for times past, and happiness in a way that no other music cannot.

Do not get me wrong... I have been a PJ super fan for 15 years (since I was 5 thank you very much)... but the fact of the matter is that Buckethead has found a place in my every day life that PJ just doesn't work well with. That is to say... if I'm studying... there is an 85% chance I'm listening to Buckethead... 12% Pink Floyd.... and 3% PJ (the lyrics, pace, and loudness can be too distracting).

ANyway... I just wanted to plug Mr. Buckethead because I have never seen anyone talk about him on this site before. If you have never listened to his non-Guns N Roses music before.... I highly recommend that you get yourself a copy of the albums "Colma" and "Electric Tears".
Bart: Dad... what's a muppet?

Homer: Well it's not quite a mop, and not quite a puppet.... but.... hehehehehehe....so to answer your question I don't know.

I have his "COLMA" album and I thought it was pretty good. It is definetly different from anything else I have, but I was impressed. The first time I ever heard of Buckethead was when I saw him playing with Primus on a video thing Primus released called videoplasty, and Buckethead kicked some ass!

  • I never even heard of him until last week when my boss was saying
how good he is, I guess she saw him last Sunday at Tower Records. I don’t know if you can see, but she’s the one sitting directly to my back. Big Ben Harper fan too.

Anyway, now that there’s confirmation from Pearl Jam fans that her claim is somewhat credible perhaps I’ll take a listen when I get a chance…

I enjoyed his work on Col. Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains project. Good stuff....

  • Excellent guitarist, i love Nottingham Lace.

I never really"got it" until I saw a video of him (probably at Rock In Rio with GnR) Sherdding and then doing a Nun-Chaku robot dance. From that day i realised he is one of the most awsome men alive.
One time I was trying to print a picture of me so I could give it to a friend to cheer him up after he was diagnosed with cancer, but the printer jammed, and my friend died.
