Elvis - 30 years later

My mom was to Elvis as I am to Pearl Jam. When she heard the news of his death her water broke, sending her into labor with me. My birthday is actually tomorrow, but it's always surrounded by news about the anniversary of Elvis' death.

I think it's kind of cool my birth story is associated with such a big day in music history. :D

I heard on the radio this morning that he still pulls in 42 million dollars a year...second only to Cobain.

He's worth more dead than I am alive.

Awesome story! Hey, just think, you could have been named Pricsilla or Lisa Marie!!!

I remember the day that he died. I was 6. In my living room. Watched hours of concert footage that night. I have an Elvis LP hanging on a wall in my house. Long live the King!
I love to turn you on

I was 12....at home watching "Star Trek" when they broke in and told the world that the King is dead.

Cool story. I think there are a lot of people who share your birth experience. I had two people in grade school and 4 in high school with birthdays on August 16th / 17th and at least a dozen more in college. I wonder how many births were caused by the King's passing ... lol.

Your story is a lot cooler than mine, I get to live my whole life knowing I was the product of a Hallmark holiday as I'm 9 months to the day of Valentine's Day. ;)

I rebelled against my dad's country music. Old school stuff. But now i can at least tolerate and respect Johnny Cash, Waylon & Willie, Tom T Hall, etc.

the elvis death story was trumped in middle school by the fact i shared donnie wahlberg's birthday. he was no joey mcintyre, but any new kid was fine by me...

    Nah, you're definitely special. ;)

I mean look how far you've evolved from NKOTB to Pearl Jam. Sadly I still know girls today in South Philly who haven't taken down their Joey McIntyre posters yet ... lol.

The only significant thing I can remember from growing up that happened on my birthday was Don Shula breaking the record for most wins in NFL history against the Eagles on my 16th birthday with a hurt Dan Marino and future Eagle scrub qb Doug Pederson playing instead. I think it was one of Pederson's only 2 or 3 wins in his career.

I watched something (E! True Hollywood Story maybe...or Unsolved Mysteries) a while back about Evie.

That dude, late in his life, took enough prescription drugs to kill a small Asian village.

    Uppers, Downers, Hamburgers, Milkshakes.

Red West(you know, the guy from Road House) was on there talking about how he tried to help save Elvis and get him off the stuff, but The King continue to surround himself with "Yes Men".
