I can't BELIEVE that it's been 26 years since Bob Marley died.
My favorite of all time.
One of the reasons I like being my age is that I got to see pretty much all the greats from the 60's on.
I think the greatest show I've ever seen was when my girlfriend and I were travelling in Jamaica in the late 70's. We were near Kingston and we met some local rasta's who told us we should go to this "one love" festival.
So we went, and it was a great day of music in a beautiful green valley in the mountains.
When the sun was setting, Bob Marley walked out on stage, back from a world tour, to his home country. It was transendental to see him walk out and recite a poem, and the crowd was just unreal as they welcomed him home with this huge orange sunset behind him. Man, the soul he had just speaking was incredible.
Then the band struck up and damn, I'll just never forget that night!

if you listen carefully now you will hear
this could be the first trumpet, might as well be the last
many more will have to suffer
many more will have to die - don't ask me why
things are not the way they used to be
i won't tell you no lie
one and all have to face reality now
'tho i've tried to find the answer to all the questions they ask
'tho i know it's impossible to go living through the past
don't tell no lie
there's a natural mystic blowing through the air
can't keep them down
if you listen carefully now you will hear
...thank you, bob marley.
Thanks man,,,,, I saw this and now I have that blasting right now.

I remember where I was when I heard about Bob Marley, Jerry Garcia, Janis, Duane Allman, too.
I was never a boxing fan. I guess I was a hippie musician.
