Dylan and DMB are artists that would have never even been considered for Jazz Fest less than 2 years ago ...

only very recently has Jazz Fest started booking acts like Sting and such ...

it's not supposed to be fucking Bonaroo ... it's JAZZ fest, for christ sake. It looks like the lineup has been infected by people who "want to make a difference" or something.

I saw DMB @ Jazz Fest in 1998. They've had Paul Simon, Wilco, Widespread Panic, Ani Difranco, Ben Harper, and the like playing the festival for at least 10 years now.

I understand your beef, but it's called the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. I think the intent is to showcase American music that has been somewhat derived or borrowed from jazz--since it is the only true American art form. That includes blues, folk, rock, and many other flavors of music.
