im in the middle. i had sparta as an opener and they sucked. didnt care for them at all. they were loud and all i heard was feedback and screaming. there were no songs. just a 45 minute wall of noise.
id rather have had sleater-kinney open becos they're not bad in their own right. just dont bring them onstage with pearl jam. becos while they sound fine on their own terms, the discord between her vocal style and ed's on a growling rock track like ritfw or fortunate son is too much. she just doesn't fit the song. it's be like asking ed to duet with celine dion... just unnatural.
so im ok with them opening, as long as they stay the fuck off of pearl jam's stage.
