Anyone hear of any rumours? The line-up is announced this week. So far the only bands I hear of are The Smashing Pumpkins (rumoured) and RHCP (confirmed)

Anyone else excited about hearing the line-up? Anyone planning to go? Hear of any other rumours?

  • i'm going with about 6 or 7 other people, i don't know why there is no buzz for Lollapalooza.... if it was just RHCP in grant park in chicago it would still be unreal!!! The fact that there are 130 bands this year and the fact that the lineup last year was amazing, should mean that this years is gonna be even better. obviously pj most likely won't be there, thats probably why there is no love for lollapalooza on this board. i'm gonna be up all day tomorrow waiting for the lineup and getting tickets, see you there man!

I'm still waiting for the info. RHCP are there for sure, but I doubting the pumpkins. If there are bonus.

Anyone know what time they'll announce it? I can't wait any longer.

The bands have been announced on Lollapalooza.com. Overall, so-so; I liked the bands better last year, I think. I really like Wilco and Common though, and their are some other indie bands that good. We'll see if they add any more.

    So far, the big names:

    RHCP
    Kanye West
    Wilco
    Common
    Death Cab (also last year)
    Flaming Lips
    Queens of the Stone Age
    Coheed and Cambria
    Sleater-Kinney
    Blues Traveler
    Ryan Adams
    Sonic Youth
    Ween
    The Shins
    Sparta
    Iron and Wine
    others....

I see a few shitty bands listed on the front page, but when i click lineup I only see 2005's lineup...my computer must be slow or something
  • its up now...the lineup is surprisingly good, aside from the largely crappy headliners (minus Wilco).

So why is Kanye West there?

Why not? I'm not a fan of Kanye West or his music by any means, but Lollapalooza has traditionally been a festival that includes a wide variety of acts. It fact it was probably one of the first to feature such diverse lineups. The first couple may have been largely "alternative", but since then we've seen such acts as Tool and Snoop on the tour together, as well as one that featured the Wu Tang Clan on stage sandwiched between The Ramones and Metallica.
  • 'cause he's from chicago and he's a massive critical and commercial success, I assume.

I dunno...If I wind up having to choose only one festival this summer, which I probably will, I think I'll stick with Pitchfork...they have an equal number of good bands for about 100 bucks less. That's a good 15 Goose Islands and a hot dog.

I was going to go, but besides Wolfmother and Sonic Youth the others don't do too much for me.

Where's mars volta or the rumoured smashing pumpkins?

the lineup isnt worth the 8 or so hour drive and the cost of an expensive chicago hotel

i dont understand why they made it 3 days, and included a watered down lineup...they should have left it at 2...just my opinion

I think the rumoured smashing pumpkins are in Dispelled Months Ago Land.

Congrats to Sparta getting a slot for this big event.

Maybe Pearl Jam knew what they were doing inviting them and Death Cab out for recent tours.
