Fair play to him for coming out with a definitive statement, at long last.

He is a gentleman, and a scholar.
p.s.....I'm taking the cake for breaking this news here btw

BUT...I don't really want to see them that way.
ok ok i'll share it with you
I couldnt have more respect for Robert Plant after this - it just shows that if you dont want to do something, then dont do it. Plus his solo career has never been more successful, so why go back to singing songs you wrote when you were 20?
And this is coming from a massive Led Zep fan. I think its safe to say that I attended their last ever show - something to tell the grand kids
I agree. And not only a massive LZ fan, but a massive fan of Plants solo career.
And btw, if you're talking about Knebworth 1979 then yes, tell the grand kids. If tho it's the O2 panto you speak of, then....not quite the same thing (I'm not in the least bit jealous that I didn't get a ticket and you did...damn you! )
I couldn't agree with you more. Not everyone can be the rolling stones and tour year after year, Alzheimers and all (personally, I hate the stones but that's a diff thread). I really like the stuff Plant been doing with Allison. She's extremely talented as well as he and the their match up is extremely interesting but it works!
Contrary to it being a "panto", it was a lifetime's ambition realised and a totally amazing experience being at the O2 gig. There was magic in the air that night! But lets not fall out over the "panto" comment, i'm sure it was coming from a good place
But contrary to being disappointed over no tour, people should be looking forward to what Robert and Jimmy/JPJ/Jason come up with over the next couple of years. Endless possibilities out there for both camps. Personally, i'd love to see Jimmy and JPJ working with someone young and vital on drums, that would breathe new life into them. Any ideas, other than Dave Grohl??
I'm sure it was a lifetime ambition fulfilled......unfortunately a lot of us fell foul of the 'ticket lottery' and couldn't go :( ....but I'm not at all bitter
Actually I would loved to have gone sure, but it wasn't the end of the world, I've seen Robert more than a dozen times and each and every performance has been special.
As for Jimmy and JPJ, I'm afraid to say I can't see them coming up with anything credible, they haven't managed much in the nearly 30 years since the band broke up, so why would they now?
The idea that they would tour with a different singer as Led Zeppelin makes me embaressed for them.
I think they might surprise you - JPJ has done some amazing stuff solo, his album Zooma is probably my favourite post-Zep work from any of the 3 members. Jimmy's guitar would only have added to it. Jack White was mentioned in a previous thread as someone that'd be cool for them to work with - but hiring another singer and touring as Led Zeppelin would be cringeworthy. No way would I go to see that!
