I was pretty disappointed with this one after all the good things I've read about this band over the past couple of years. The 'epic' tracks here- Giftland, The Wheel, and the Golden Core- are the ones that kept me listening. The sound of most of these songs was a real turnoff- for most of the first disc I felt like I was listening to any number of crappy bands on Myspace. The sound of the recordings definitely have the garage feel, which judging by the album title is what they may have been going for, but it was a real turn off to listen to. But from Giftland on, it was like a completely different band. I would probably love this record if the tracklist was those 6 songs (Giftland/Watersound on d1 and all of d2) and the production on it was a bit better.
If you want to hear some Motorpsycho stuff that is recorded "properly", check out Trust us. And maybe Angels and deamons at play will also be more to your likeing.
If you do enjoy these albums, I'll bet you'll like Timmy after some time.
