k so I've been picking up my bass more lately and I remember a thread a while ago about this but couldn't find it so anyone have any ideas of songs with cool basslines that aren't uber hard to play? I posted this in other music but I guess it should maybe be in musicans and gearheads, whatev if it moves it moves sorry for teh extra work to whomever would move it.

good call but I already know that, Zeppelin has some sweet bass (duh) one of the reasons I started to get into them as more then just a casual fan

I always thought Radiohead had some of the best bass lines and many don't sound too complicated...

Spiders by System of a Down is pretty easy and catchy, same w/ Set the controls for the heart of the sun by Pink Floyd, i learned both for guitar and they are easy

i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
    eager to identify with
    someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way

  • I think Rush's Geddy Lee is perhaps the greatest bassist in the rock genre. He isn't in the background his playing is almost equally prominent as Lifeson's guitar. Check out the bass on "Red Barchetta" from Rush's 1981 classic album "Moving Pictures". Jack Bruce on "Politician" is simple but amazing!
  • What about "All Those Yesterdays"? That is an awesome bass line, and it is pretty easy.

Try "How Many More Times?" and "Houses of the Holy." Also, "This is the Place" by Red Hot Chili Peppers.
