Need some "Radio" songs

k so I'm on this kick of making theme cds, the first one was songs that had the word angel in the title, this one I'm on is songs about the radio or with radio in the title. I did a Itunes search and got a bunch that have the word radio in it but the only one about the radio that I could think of off the top of my head was Left of the Dial by the Mats, and maybe Writing to Reach You by Travis. Any ideas?

One of my favorites for sure. I still can't get enough of Stand Inside Your Love though.. it's just so powerful and beautiful. James' ebow solo is perfect. I hope he comes back soon :(

    I love that Rush tune!

Thanks but I don't think Rush would fit it at all on this cd, just not my deal

I don't suppose poodle-haired 80s rockers Autograph will make the cut with "Turn Up the Radio"?

I'm not sure if you are looking for specific bands (probably ones that don't suck :)), but the first two that popped into my head were:

Van Halen: "summer nights and my radio....."

    Poison-Every Rose Has Its Thorn:

"I listen to our favorite song
    Playing on the radio
Hear the dj say loves a game of easy come and
    Easy go"

Sorry, for some reason my head seems to be stuck in the 80s right now, but that's the best i could come up w/ on a whim!

No need to apologize. I'm almost ashamed of myself for even posting those two! :)

A quick search of the ole' iTunes returns...

Do you remember rock'n'roll radio - the ramones (and probably like a million cover versions)

My radio - pavement (I don't even know this one, it is on the Westing CD that I never listen to)

    Radio Cure - Wilco

Radio War - Iron & Wine

Not his best (by far) but Dylan turned a great phrase on "Shooting Star":

Listen to the engine, listen to the bell
As the last fire truck from hell
Goes rolling by, all good people are praying,
    It's the last temptation
    The last account
The last time you might hear the sermon on the mount,
    The last radio is playing.

I have that Ramones one, (decided to go with the original and not the laughable Kiss cover from the tribute cd a few years ago), don' think I have that Pavement one though and what record is that Dylan track off?

I believe it is on Oh Mercy as well as the unplugged record.

  • Radio Luv Song by 54/40 is a must
  • There's a couple of good Sublime tunes with mention of the radio in the lyrics.

    Superstar Punani...

    "First you get a manager"
    "But what does he do?"
"I'll be the first to tell you baby"
    "That I don't have a clue"
"We're gonna make a phony image"
    "For the MTV"
    "Hear it on the radio"
    "Say Damn that's me!"

    Boss DJ...

    "It's so nice"
"I want to hear the same song twice"
"Nowdays the songs on the radio"
    "All drive me crazy"
    one foot in the door
the other foot in the gutter
    sweet smell that they adore
    I think I'd rather smother
