Ok I'm going to bonnaroo and I intend to camp but I don't know how to get my camping supplies from washington to Tennessee...I can fit some of it into my check luggage but do they rent anything out at the festival?

Well there is always a wal mart to get the stuf you will go through that weekend. You can always hook up with someone that is driving in and have them bring an extra tent/gear and the throw soem cash thier way. Check out http://bonnaroo.proboards21.com/index.cgi for a good bonnaroo resource. You will find lots of helpfull people over there to point you in the right direction.
  • I'm flying in from Arizona. I've put a lot of thought into this because like you, I also have camping equipment and I'm trying to avoid having to purchase duplicates of everything in TN. Here's my advice:

Southwest Airlines is a good option since they still allow you to check two bags for free. They also allow one small carryon and one personal item in addition to outer garments. I called SWA to verify an ice chest is allowed as checked luggage and received the green light. I plan to pack my tent in it. The SWA employee also said to bring duct tape with me to secure the cooler after it is inspected at the airport.

My other checked bag will contain my canopy, 2 small battery operated fans, 2 flashlights, hydration pack, personal hygiene items not allowed in my carryon and any clothing items that don't fit in my carryon. Just be sure the bag weighs in under 50lbs or you'll get charged $25 by the airline. I learned this while following PJ in 06. (My bag weighed 53lbs.) My sis-in-law will be traveling with me, so we'll pack our sleeping bags in her checked luggage. I haven't decided if I'm packing tarps, or if I'll get new ones in TN. Accoding to the Roo Veterans, you can't have enough shade at camp.

The one personal item can be a backpack, as long as it fits under the seat. I plan to tie my walking shoes to my backpack and carry any outer garments.

You also have the option of checking a third bag for $25, but the fourth bag will cost you $50. If you're traveling with another, I'm confident you'll be able to bring everything you need. Just be sure to buy any food, batteries, etc in TN. I'm staying in Murfreesboro the night before so I can shop for food, liquor, etc. If you need Costco, the closest stores are in Nashville and Brentwood. Keep in mind that TN has dry counties, so you're probably better off buying liquor in the big city.

If your traveling solo, packing everything you need is going to be a challenge. You'll probably need to go the third bag route.

    I hope this helps.
  • Just continue packing and don't forget anything. IF you forget there is a general store in Bonaroo for "reasonable prices" like a loaf of bread for 7$. MAke a list and check it twice. I would hit Walmart the day before and stock up.
  • How can you get from Nashville to Manchester once you fly in. I'm slowly trying to talk my buddy into flying.

I fly with my camping supplies all the time. Think small. I brought a cooler on wheels (with a handle) when I camped at The Gorge and put lots of stuff inside. I just put two bungee cords around it and checked it like that. They have lots of food for sale at reasonable prices so if you have to leave anything behind it should be the stove. It is usually too hot to cook much anyway. There is ice for sale all over the place. There are also pay showers. It is better to buy all the food and drink stuff at a store outside Bonnaroo because it is hell getting in & out. I always plan to stay put once I get there.

Not that I have seen. The prices are just a little more than usual but they do run out of things. It was a real emergency for my daughter who did not bring enough female supplies. I'm sure you are happy I shared that. lol

How can you get from Nashville to Manchester once you fly in. I'm slowly trying to talk my buddy into flying.

There is a shuttle service that costs $60 round trip that goes from Nashville airport directly to Bonnaroo (bypassing the lineup of cars). Shuttles run from Thursday morning to Friday midday, I believe, and they bring you back to the Airport on Monday.

My R.V. will roll into Bonnaroo with 15 cases of beer on board...

but still......these assholes are charging people $30 for a 6-pack??

after they had the BALLS to charge $250 for a ticket??? and an extra $400 if you want a ticket that included a shower????

i also understand $5 a beer is what you pay at any concert or sporting event...

    but it still seems wrong...

Honestly, LAst year was my only year at Bonaroo. I read Bonaroos website and it stated "reasonable prices." Bread was the only thing I forgot and I brought 5 dollars to the store and I had to walk back to my tent bc it wasn't enough. Showers were a small fee as well (7 dollars) but it was worth every penny after being in the sun all day. However if you plan ahead you don't spend much. The only thing I bought was my 7$ bread, a couple of showers, and thats about it.

Make sure you have cases of can beer...theyll take your bottles if you have them...they check EVERY car...trunk as well. IF you have to take a bottle pack it at the bottom of a cooler.
