GnR Sympathy For The Devil

ok i hope im not boring u guys with my questions on details.. but on gnr's sympathy for the devil is it slash on lead or is it paul tobias? i read a while ago that tobias played some solos on top of slash's but in the final recording only one was used. slash was real upset abt it apparently. but who was on it?

and who was this paul tobias anyway? anyone know abt the apparently negative comments he made of slash?i read abt that too, but didnt know what exactly he said.. thanks

    I'm 99% sure it's Slash. It came out in '94 and I believe he was still in the band at that point.

    Edit: Here's what I found:

    During the recording of "Sympathy for the Devil", Tobias played several solos in addition to solos that Slash had recorded. Slash was infuriated when he heard the song's final mix and Tobias's solos were used in place of his. Slash then drifted in and out of the band for the next year, beginning a side project called Slash's Snakepit before finally quitting in late 1996.

    yep..Tobias was the Yoko
    he is Axl's childhood friend and all..but he left the band in 2001..Richard Fortus replaced him.

    an old thread...i just have to mention how good i think the solos are...im pretty sure now its 2 lead guitars...its seriously awesome..cant undstand why some of u guys dont like it. i prefer it to the original in fact. good ol rock and roll..
