  • I used to be. The last time I saw them live was in 1994. I didn't even know they were still around. My favorite album is "Reality Of My Surrondings". After that, they seemed to have drifted a way.

Last time I saw them was 1986, a wild show. They'd be fun to see again though.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

Saw them once in Calgary in the mid-90s at the now defunct Republik Nightclub. Crazy show! Angelo Moore was using a wireless mic, and during "Swim" he jumped into the audience and crowd surfed his way through the entire bar while still singing the song at the same time. The song was almost over before he was finally able to surf his way back to the stage. It was hilarious.
"I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."

  • THey do a fantastic live show, this is a band I need to see live again.

I can't believe the lack of Fishbone fans here.

Well, it is not really surprising being the lack of exposure they get, but I just feel as though you all are missing out. I know I was missing out until about 8 yeas ago when I first witnessed the greatness that is a Fishbone show.

yeah, i couldn't believe they were playing FL, so when I heard the news, I bought a ticket the AM they went on sale. I can't wait for the Orlando HOB show. Anyone else gonna attend?

Orlando is seeing some seriously good groups come by this year alone.

    Check out this week alone:

    Sun: Decemberists
Mon: TV on the Radio; also Blood Brothers
    Tues: Sebadoh
    Thur: Flaming Lips

It will be a good week. Plus upcoming, we get Les Claypool; George Clinton and P-Funk; Fishbone; Mastodon; BRMC. Lots of great shows so far.

Okay, so I have come to the conclusion that I am almost entirely alone in my Fishbone fan-hood here on this board. That's okay. I'm fine with that. I will just continue to talk to myself regarding the greatness that is Fishbone in concert.

I have to say that I just acquired the soundboard recording bootleg of the very first Fishbone show that I ever went to way back on 4/8/2000 at the old Fenix in Seattle. This show was so fucking bad ass for a few different reasons. First off, my buddy and I weren’t even there to see the headliners, Fishbone. My buddy was only going to catch one of the opening bands, Slightly Stoopid. I was only going ‘cause he was going. So there, neither of us was going for Fishbone. We had only maybe “heard of” Fishbone but certainly knew none of their music. Hell, we almost didn’t even stay for them…what idiots we would have been. We did stay and Fishbone proceeded to KICK OUR ASSES!! They were non-stop for well over 2 hours.

Back then the Fenix Underground was a 2 part joint. There was the upstairs were we were for Fishbone, and there was the downstairs, or the “Underground” part. And this night we were there was to be the very last night ever that they were going to keep the upstairs portion open for business. After this night, they would only be open for business in the Underground. So Fishbone was there (where they had apparently played many times in the past) to “tear that mother fucker down!!!!” They play ‘til well after 2 in the morning, taking the venue out in style with all the waitresses dancing on top of the bar, all taking shots. During Swim, there finale song, Angelo was crowd surfing all the way to the bar swigging shots with the bar staff. The band was simply on FIRE!!!!

When we were walking out of there at about 2:20 in the morning, when the band finally quit playing, we were absolutely in fucking AWE!! Neither of us had ever had an experience quite like that. Such a small intimate venue, so much energy, and so blind-sided by the newly found greatness that is Fishbone. We couldn’t stop going on and on about the show on the drive back to Tacoma. Without discussing it, both of us hit the record store up the next day and bought as many Fishbone records as we could find. Then we copied each other’s finds that we didn’t duplicate to make sure we both had the same catalog.

Since then we have seen them about 4 or 5 other times and they never disappoint!! This time, we are going to hit up two shows in two days, one in Portland and one in Seattle. We’re doing it full ass, baby! Pearl Jam style, if you will. Also, the “old” Fenix, as I referred to it earlier is in reference to the fact that the building is now completely gone…both upstairs and the underground part too. We had an earthquake less than a year after that show and that was the end of that really old industrial building. The Fenix has since reopened in Pioneer Square and they are full ass again with a balcony, the main section where the stage is, and an underground.

Party with Sadaam. Party with everyone. Let's all get down.

The Orlando HOB show was fan-fucking-tastic. Finally great to see my first Fishbone show. It was outstanding to say the least. They ripped through so much of their catalog, it was unreal. They were really pumped and jazzed and it showed. The crowd was even pretty supportive for an Orlando crowd. People were skanking, the band was crowd surfing (multiple times), the music was scorching and the horns were wailing. A great show at the HOB. They even played a killer cover of Date Rape by Sublime. Just an all around fun and enjoyable show. Everyone should've seen them on tour. If you missed 'em, I feel for you b/c you missed a great show.

  • out of this world live show! :) truly fantastic.

saw them about 4 yrs ago maybe at the club where i was working at the time...placed was packed, sweaty and there was an incredible amount of energy for the whole show.

great guys with great stories. i sold them some pot, smoked it with them, and a bunch of our staff sat around with them after the show...them sharing stories and complaining about how we roll joints here on the east coast. they complained less the more we smoked and the more we drank. ;) good times.

    fishbone! :D

Date Rape was in-fucking-sane!!!! The mosh pit immediately got more violent when they started this song!!!

    Party With Saddam
    Let Dem Hoes Fight
    Alcoholic
    The Suffering
    Ma & Pa
    Freddie's Dead
    Jackass Brigade
    Cholly
    Party at Ground Zero

And so many more great songs spanning their career!!!
  • Just saw these guys for the first time last night. Much agreed its almost hard to explain its nothing like a pearl jam experience its amazing in its own way and I loved it. Great live band and one of the best i've ever seen for sure.

I hung out with those dudes in the backstage area of Liberty Lunch in Austin when they played there in '97. My buddy's cousin was in a band called Snot that opened for them. He brought us back to hang out. All the Fishbone dudes were there doing what bands do backstage before a show. Really nice guys from what I recall. I also recall thinking that the backstage area of the club in which I had seen hundreds of shows by some really big time acts was a complete shithole.
