what are everyones thoughts on the new album? i havent heard much on here about it. i have to say i love the new album...its a little bit of a new sound, how he layers the voice on some of the tracks.

I like it better than The Rising, its a solid and beautiful CD all around

ive prob listened to it somewhere around 30 times now, and i honestly think that it is his best record since Darkness. every track is incrediblly well played and well written. it boggles my mind that someone who has been around that long still has THAT good an album left in him.

bruce is second to pearl jam.

the last 2 or so pages are on magic,
but to each their own. it was an invite- thats all.

i like the fact that bruce and the e street band were not always in the studio with brendan o brien at the same time,

    something new for bruce recording.

o brien works his magic with the sampling , dubbing, and mixing / engineering this fantastic album.

wow- that's soo close to my sentiment! my all-time fav album of bruce's is darkness- every song was brilliant. and my hubby just gave me Magic and i can't stop listening to it. it's really, really, really GOOD. my favorites, so far:

    Radio Nowhere
    Living in the Future
    Your Own Worst Enemy
    I'll Work for Your Love
MAGIC (such a great, moody song, omg)

well, i guess i pretty much like 'em all!!

i've been a bruce fan since high school (lo those many years ago) i used to wake up to "bruce juice" on WPLJ every morning (jersey girl that i am...) and have seen him several times in concert. he puts on an incredible show. i lost touch with him for a few years after The River, but did enjoy The Rising. however, he has outdone himself with this new one. it's just great.

    thanks, bruce! :)

I got a coin in my palm
    I can make it disappear
I got a card up my sleeve
Name it and I'll pull it out your ear
I got a rabbit in my hat
If you wanna come and see
    This is what will be
    This is what will be

I got shackles on my wrists
Soon I'll slip 'em and be gone
Chain me in a box in your river
And I'll rise singin' this song
Trust none of what you hear
And less of what you see

    This is what will be
    This is what will be

I got a shiny saw blade
    All I need's a volunteer
    I'll cut you in half
While you're smilin' ear to ear
And the freedom that you sought's
Driftin' like a ghost amongst the trees
    This is what will be
    This is what will be

Now there's a fire down below
    But it's coming up here
    So leave everything you know
    Carry only what you fear

On the road the sun is sinkin' low
There's bodies hangin' in the trees
    This is what will be
    This is what will be

I think the album is all right, maybe a 6.5 out of 10. I'll listen to it to prepare for the tour then maybe never listen to it again. It's too dense and cluttered for me. The last thing an E Street record needed was 3 guitarists. It's listenable and hummable but lacks all the magic and open spaces his old records have. ut it is nice to hear an upbeat, up tempo Bruce.

apparently he's got alot on his mind these days. :)

i don't like real crowded sounds either, but musically, i think this album is just right.

I was suprised to see Patti on the album. I thought he split from her a while back. What's up with that?

I read a review that described it as sounding "a bit too Bruce Springsteen".

    which is fucking retarded really.

and people that havent seen the new live show ,
seen how the new songs translate live,
should save their judgement until theyve done so.

theres a reason a band , still in its original lineup, is still together and still relevant after even 35 years .

What did they expect it to sound like -Metallica or something?

I'm liking the album and can't wait till the show!

it was the dumbest review ever. they did say it was pretty good though. the fact that it was too Bruce was the only criticism :D

the new album is his best since Nebraska. i got to see him last Saturday in Philly, 3 rows from the back of the stage. i saw him twice on the 99 Reunion tour but this was much better. all the new songs sound amazing live and some of the older ones he throws in (Ties That Bind, Reason To Belive, Night, Thundercrack) are outstanding.

one thing i did notice and this might be ME but some of the old songs just sound tired. Prove It All Night was the one that stood out for me. maybe i'm just too use to hearing old 1978 bootleg versions that are 10 minutes long.

I think I like The Rising more though.

I think it's amazing, and the best he's done in a long time. At first I thought it was good but not great for the reasons mentioned earlier (too cluttered, some songs sound similar) but it got better every single time I listened to it. Now I love it to death.

Still, "Your Own Worst Enemy" is kinda weak. But besides that, it's amazing. Radio Nowhere is still kick-ass even after hearing it a billion times.
