I like rock, but sometimes I want something different. If anyone has anything in these genres or subgenres that they know is pretty good, let me know:

House - Nu Italo Dance
House - Classic
House - Europop
Breakbeat -- Electro Funk (Parliament and shit like that)
Downtempo - Ambient
Downtempo - Minimalism (especially the Mike Oldfield stuff)
Downtempo - Ambient Trance (Mystic Force)
Downtempo - Ambient Breaks

Thanks!

Kruder & Dorfmeister, and the projects of every one of them (Tosca & Peace Orchestra) do some of the best downtempo I've ever heard.
You should check Banco da Gaia if you haven't.
I'll post later with some other recommendations.

Aphex Twin does some weird but great shit, you should be carefull with what album you pick though.
    Fluke are pretty good.
Gotham Project are great, this is electronic with a tango twist.
And I assume you already have heard Kraftwerk (actually if you have heard Kraftwerk you have heard everything, excep for Matmos who I think are the only real electronic innovators after Kraftwerk.)

Shpongle is more psy-trance oriented, but they're very good at it, for sure it'll get your mind tripping out.

Look for a band by the name M83, think Trance mixed with a more rock type structure, or Air meets The Bends era Radiohead. Really interesting stuff

There is only one electronic band worth listening to. They will cover everything from Ambient to Breaks.

    Meat Beat Manifesto.

Jack Dangers is a god. He has made music since the late 80's and his stuff is revolutionary. He practically invented the jungle genre.

    Stuff that you need.

Meat Beat Manifesto - Actual Sounds + Voices. - this has a bit of everything, breaks, ambient, jazzy type stuff. Fantastic disc.

Meat Beat Manifesto - Subliminal Sandwich - this one has 2 discs, one is ambient, one is electronica/dance/techno kinda thing. Another fantastic cd.

Jack Dangers - Hello Friends - this is definitly a great starting point to get into Jacks music. This is a compilation of his various works. Remixes, side projects and the like. Some Tino Corp. stuff, Meat Beat Manifesto stuff and DHS.

If you can find it, on vinyl, they released an ep called Eccentric Objects that is awesome. http://www.sputnik.com was where I got my copy. Limited print, hand made cover and signed. w00t!

    anyways, check em out at

http://www.allmusic.com - search meat beat manifesto.

Should be able to download some samples there.

I saw them in concert in august 05. What a show. they had projectors showing video clips/samples that were edited and mixed on the fly. One of the coolest things I have ever seen in my life.

I have just about everything they have ever released except the newest. They kinda went jazz electronica with their latest stuff and they lost me with it :)
