Saw them at the LA Forum. They put on a great show. Played for 2 hours, maybe just over. Jack Irons was in the crowd. Anyways, they played:

Can't Stop
Dani California
Scar Tissue
Charle
Fortune Faded
Readymade
Parallel Universe
Hump de Bump (with The Mars Volta's bongo player - intense)
John Frusciante Solo ("For Emily, Wherever I May Find Her")
Snow (Hey Oh)
Nobody Weird Like Me
Wet Sand
Right on Time
Don't Forget Me
Tell Me Baby
Californication
By the Way
Under the Bridge
Give it Away

Awesome show.

  • They didn't play anything from One Hot Minute, or any of their stuff from before BSSM? Sounds like you got ripped off to me, kinda.

Personally, I'm a bigger fan of their newer stuff. But that's just me.

They hardly, if ever play anything from One Hot Minute with the possible exception of Pea. IMO it really wasn't their strongest album anyway.

As far as them playing Hump De Bump - shit! I hope they pull that out in either Boston or Quebec City.

Nobody Weird Like Me is of Mothers Milk, and John Frusciante dosen't want to play anything of OHM.

i guess its because i listen to PJ so much, but i hate the way the RHCP NEVER change the set list. its so boring. Damn near identical to when i saw them exactly 2 months ago.
  • Frusciante will not play any Navarro stuff.
  • i once saw flea go through a tub of popcorn in a couple minutes about ten years ago at the forum during a laker game. the game sucked so my eyes were fixated on his eating habit.

more fun than most pepper shows i've been to.

They never play anything as a band from OHM (excluding Flea on "Pea") since that was the lowest time in their career. John had just left the band, Flea was on the verge of quitting, Anthony was relapsing, and Chad, well Chad was just Chad. They also hardly ever play antyhing before BSSM, besides the exception from their first few SA concerts, where they played "Knock Me Down." They do frequently play "Me & My Friends." Too bad no more "Fire." What a treat that is to see live. Anyways...can't wait so see them in October. 2nd row baby!!!
Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.
  • Sounds like a good set, just wish they played soul to squeeze more often. That is and will always be my fav RHCP song.
    OBAMA BABY
  • they play pre-BSSm stuf more than u think. i have lots of bootlegs of them recently playing thing like nobody's wierd like me, me and my friends... umm wait nvm thats really all you usually see. forget what i said. they play fire somtings. the odler stuff is better, but i like the new stuff too, its a mixed opinion
    im awesome

the bongo player for the mars volta is my friend's dad. He also played on one hot minute. It's awesome if u go to his house....he has this wall filled with gold and platinum records that he has played on. The guy is amazing!! He lives in Ventura, CA. God I miss home.....i am going to school in chicago :(

That may be true, but "My Friends" and "Aeroplane" are still fantastic songs.

I've been a bit dissapointed by their last albums... they were good (my point of view) until One Hot Minute...
the following albums were all similar and "too pop"...
    2006: Antwerp, Paris
    2007: Copenhagen, Werchter
    2009: Rotterdam, London
    2010: MSG, Arras, Werchter
    2012: Amsterdam, Prague, Berlin
    2014: Amsterdam, Stockholm
