Hi there,

end of this month I'll visit Seattle for the first time. Can anyone tell if there is something like a music museum?
Or is there something to find about PJ what's open for tourists?

Thanks in advance.

Be sure to check out the local music scene. Just stroll into some bars and check whats playing. Good stuff. :)

when i went for the first time i spent a good amount of time at the experience music project. yes its all corporate-fied, but there is some cool stuff in there worth checking out. i also spent a lot of time in the pike place market area. my wife and i walked around looking for record shops to check out. saw sub-pop headquarters. just a lot to see. hopefully a local will respond here and get you some insider info.

I'm from Boston and I've been to Seattle 2 times. I'm addicted. Great city.

Try the Experience Music Project- it's called the EMP. It's next to the Space Needle.

I went there in '01. Nothing on PJ, unfortunately. But there was an interactive Jimi Hendrix exhibit that was amazing.

    EMP at Seattle Center.
Easy Street (I prefer the Queen Anne location :O) also right by Seattle Center
The Underground Tour in Pioneer Square
Pioneer Square bar crawl, its like 15 bucks, gets you cover for 5 or 6 different bars, all generally have different types of bands playing, one of them is the Central, which is like grunge history in itself, you name and they probably played there, AIC, Soundgarden , Nirvana etc
El Corazon, the old Off Ramp, pretty historic Pearl Jam venue
Obviously Pike Place and the first Starbucks is a must.
Cool fucking Architecture abound, check out the Library downtown.
Mariners/Seahawks game if youre into sports.
Bumbershoot considering youre there that weekend.

Hmm i m pretty sure the Seattle Scene thing was, it is like one of the major exhibits in there, the Ames Posters could be newer though because I'm pretty sure they have 03's in there and the poster special exhibition was first there in 05 I believe, but the ames posters are in a different spot, but they could have added them after, its a good question, regardless it is all about the Hendrix exhibit anyways.

Also on that note for the OP Jimi Hendrixs grave is actually in Renton, a 15 minute drive from Seattle.

    Hendrix, noted. Thanks.

I am sure it wasn't there at the time. If it was, I would have spent 3 hours in front of that wall.

I just went to Seattle on vacation at the beginning of the month, and it was awesome. Highlights:

    - West Seattle: Easy Street (where PJ played), Alki Beach
    - Experience Music Project - they have a whole Pacific Northwest section, with some handwritten lyrics from Kurt and Chris Cornell, lots of PJ stuff
    - Kurt's house on Lake Washington
    - The apartment complex from Singles, in Capitol Hill
    - Pike Place Market & the first Starbucks
    - Mariners game at Safeco
    - Drove down to Aberdeen (saw the sign "Welcome to Aberdeen, Come as you are"

I am in Boston, and if I could move to Seattle, I would in a second!

I'm going to Seattle in a couple of weeks. I'm only there for a couple of days mid-week, but I'm so excited.

There's an old link on FiveHorizons that's directed me to some cool stuff that I plan on checking out.
