Question about SXSW

Has anyone ever been? I’ve lived in Texas my whole life and have never been.

I ask because the Black Crowes are playing as part of SXSW at Stubb’s BBQ on Saturday, March 15. But they don’t have tickets listed anywhere like they do for their other shows. The only thing I can find are those badges on sxsw.com. And those look like they get you into all events. What do you do if you only want to go to one show? Is that even possible.

I don’t really know much about it.

    You can also buy a wristband for $130-$170 that will get you into most evening shows (although people with badges will get in first).

    If you just want to go to the Crowes show, get there early enough and you may be able to buy a ticket at the door.

    (disclaimer: It's my first year going, so this is just what I've heard from SXSW vets).

    stubbs is a great venue and has good food. beer is not cheap though. what a great spot to the the crowes!!! also - check out antones. in_hiding 79 is in Austin...look her up!

    call stubbs and ask what their policy is on that show, you may be able to buy a ticket over the phone (not sure though), but the venue will probably have the most reliable info if you can't find it on the site. I've never been to sxsw or ACL but have always wanted to go, I'm too poor. :(

    You'll either have to get to the venue SUPER early to pay a cover to get in, or buy a wristband. I don't think they've announced when the wristbands go on sale yet or how they're going to do it this year, but if you can get ahold of an Austin Chronicle every Thursday I'm sure they'll be announcing it soon.

    Well, thanks for the advice everyone, but The Black Crowes cancelled their appearance. So, never mind!

    Oh, well. Would have been fun to try.

    I had to miss Black Crowes last time I was in Ft Worth. It would have been nice to finally cross that band off my list of shows I've seen, but since my friend worked for the station sponsoring the show (He's an engineer for like 4 different stations) He had to be on another assingment at 5am the next morning, and the Crows didn't go on until Midnight so we had to bail. We were back there with the tour buses too, and they wouldn't come out of the bus either, so we didn't even get to meet them, (that would have been cool enough to soften the bruise for not getting to see them play). Cross Canadian ragweed opened the show and hung out for a bit though.
