This has to be one of the best I heard.

I just recently got back into Pete Yorn and of course I forgot about this one. The song is from MUSICFORTHEMORNINGAFTER and is titled "EZ."

What's funny is I never experienced a breakup after this song was released....so I never got to dread life with this song.

Here's an mp3 of it:
http://www.wcyt.org/13%20Pete%20Yorn%20-%20EZ.mp3

Lyrics:
Only save
Try to find another way
I’m taking what I gave to you again.
Some new day I could understand your face
You could even hold my hand if you would like to.

It came up unexpected
I had to follow through
And it’s hard when you were working like you do.

It was easy when you were younger
You can put it back together
It was there if you ever wanted it
But you closed the door and said goodbye for good.

So this is a mistake
Try to find a better way
You were never fond of anything I said.
Can we begin again?
Save it for another friend
I was happy in my life I won’t pretend
Every time you were expecting to reach out and forgive this
I was hardened by the look upon your face

It was easy when you were younger
You can put it back together
It was there if you ever wanted it
But you closed the door
And said goodbye for good
For good

It was easy when you were younger
You can put it back together
It was there if you ever wanted it
But you closed the door
And said goodbye

It was easy when you were younger
You can put it back together
It was there if you ever wanted it
But you closed the door
And said goodbye for good
You said goodbye for good
You said goodbye for good

You were easy.
You were easy.
You were easy.
You were easy.
You were easy.

"This feeling is wonderful...don't you ever turn it off."

I hope that our few remaining friends
Give up on trying to save us
I hope we come up with a failsafe plot
To piss off the dumb few that forgave us
I hope the fences we mended
Fall down beneath their own weight
And I hope we hang on past the last exit
I hope it's already too late
And I hope the junkyard a few blocks from here
    Someday burns down
And I hope the rising black smoke carries me far away
And I never come back to this town
    Again in my life
    I hope I lie
And tell everyone you were a good wife
    And I hope you die
    I hope we both die

I hope I cut myself shaving tomorrow
I hope it bleeds all day long
Our friends say it's darkest before the sun rises
We're pretty sure they're all wrong
I hope it stays dark forever
I hope the worst isn't over
And I hope you blink before I do
Yeah I hope I never get sober
And I hope when you think of me years down the line
You can't find one good thing to say
And I'd hope that if I found the strength to walk out
You'd stay the hell out of my way
    I am drowning
There is no sign of land
You are coming down with me
    Hand in unlovable hand

    And I hope you die
    I hope we both die

    if you were the dumpee:

Stabbing Westward - What Do I Have To Do, Shame, So Far Away
Boy Hits Car - Basically everything off "The Passage" .. but Love's Subtle Scheme, Forever and a Day, Everything, and You Don't Care are good choices. Cregg went thru a very painful breakup writing this album.. so all the songs are about breakups..

    If you were the dumper:
    (hed) PE - Daydreams
    BoyHitsCar Masked Street Team

    Upcoming boyhitscar concerts:
    11/7/07 - Allentown Pa

    the damage that you've done
    oh who have i become

Best breakup song ever- "Fuck You" by the Headstones:

Circling and spinning around my mind
    You sweetly, swiftly shift
Shaking the shakes I'm faking, you're shaking
And you're quick to steal a kiss
So in a frozen motion I silently scream
You flinch but you won't back down
You dare me, you try to scare me
But you know I'll stand my ground
    Fuck You

Inch by inch I'm closing in
Your eyes have sealed the dawn
Now it's only a matter of time before you shatter
try to walk away with pieces that you want
So you seek secrets of my soul
My misery I hope you'll miss
Cast your hooks, I hope you catch
    A glimpse of blinded bliss
    Fuck you

Who's gonna guess it, or believe
    Everything's crossed my mind
So don't you blink, I'm trying to think
    Well everything could unwind
Well you move me, you used to use me
Now it's time to stand this ground
And if I don't come back, nothing will collapse
    Nothing really ever comes around
    So surely I said sorry
if you believe half the things that we've done
    You must've done them too
Cause you know I'm cut in two
Just above the balcony I'm hung from
    Fuck you
"I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."

He said "I'll love you till I die",
she told him "You'll forget in time"
As the years went slowly by,
she still preyed upon his mind

He kept her picture on his wall,
    went half-crazy now and then
He still loved her through it all,
    hoping she'd come back again

Kept some letters by his bed
    dated nineteen sixty-two
    He had underlined in red
    every single "I love you"

I went to see him just today,
oh but I didn't see no tears
All dressed up to go away, first time
I'd seen him smile in years

    He stopped loving her today
They placed a wreath upon his door
And soon they'll carry him away
    He stopped loving her today

    (Spoken)
    You know,
she came to see him one last time.
Aww, 'n' we all wondered if she would.
And it kept runnin' through my mind
"this time he's over her for good."

    He stopped loving her today
They placed a wreath upon his door
And soon they'll carry him away
    He stopped loving her today
You see me empty, Sir, do not pause and inquire, simply assume and refill.

I love this song due to the fragile feel it has.

    MANMOWER ~ Motorpsycho

    It wouldn’t work,it’s getting stronger
    can’t be controlled any longer
theres only guilt, there is no feeling of beauty left
what was so free is getting locked up
    emotion-motion is dead stopped
there’s just remorse, there is no hunger,no craving left
but I see what you mean-I wish I was 16

    I’m not there ,only choking
it shuts down when I’m toking
on the air,the musky odors of yesterday
    only numb,growing colder
don’t need heat to make this solder
feels like I’m rusting from this apathic decay
but I know how it feels to be underneath those heels..

now I’ve got nothing more to say
and I got burned on the way
you drugged me ,fed me ,
    took me with you to whereever you’d go;
    you swallowed me whole.

    FOOLS GOLD ~ Motorpsycho

please come smile with me just one more time,
it won’t get out of hand
keep doing what you’re doing now,
    I think I understand.
    insight comes so fast sometimes,
    with confusion in it’s wake.
I dug and found fools gold again,
but saw through it way too late.
I saw through you way too late
you weren’t far from me that time..
    not so far from me
but it’s been dying all this time...

you still mean the world to me
    for seconds on end sometimes.
we talked until no more words were left
and the things we did were crimes.
    why beautiful turned ugly then,
    I still can’t understand-
please look at me just one more time,
I can take it if you can
I can take it if you can
You weren’t far from me that time
    not so far from me
but it’s been dying all this time

    and now you’re losing me

she said to me, over the phone
she wanted to see other people
i thought, "well then, look around, they're everywhere"
    said that she was confused...
i thought, "darling, join the club"
    24 years old, mid-life crisis
nowadays hits you when you're young
i hung up, she called back, i hung up again
    the process had already started
    at least it happened quick
i swear, i died inside that night
    my friend, he called
    i didn't mention a thing
the last thing he said was, "be sound"
    sound...
i contemplated an awful thing, i hate to admit
i just thought those would be such appropriate last words
    but i'm still here
    and small
so small.. how could this struggle seem so big?
    so big...
while the palms in the breeze still blow green
and the waves in the sea still absolute blue
    but the horror
every single thing i see is a reminder of her
never thought i'd curse the day i met her
and since she's gone and wouldn't hear
who would care? what good would that do?
    but i'm still here
    so i imagine in a month...or 12
i'l be somewhere having a drink
    laughing at a stupid joke
    or just another stupid thing
and i can see myself stopping short
    drifting out of the present
sucked by the undertow and pulled out deep
    and there i am, standing
wet grass and white headstones all in rows
and in the distance there's one, off on its own
    so i stop, kneel
    my new home...
and i picture a sober awakening, a re-entry into this little bar scene
sip my drink til the ice hits my lip
    order another round
    and that's it for now
    sorry
never been too good at happy endings...
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

    Once before I go
    I want you to know
That I would do it all again
I'm sure I'd make the same mistakes
But I could make it through
The pains and joys and aches
    I knew back then
    I'd do it all
    I'd do it all again

    Before I go
    I want you to know
That I look back with no regrets
And when our luck was wearing thin
And we were down and out
And still came back to win against all bets
    Now when I look back
    I still have no regrets

And it's so hard to say good-byes
When there's so much that's left
    Unspoken in your eyes
But unless I spread my wings again
    I'm afraid I'll never soar
So hang on to the memories
And hold me close once more

    Once more
    Just once before I go
    I want you to know
That I have loved you all along
And even when we're far apart
I only need to feel you're living in my heart
    And I'll be strong
    Love you just the way
    I've loved you all along

And it's so hard to say good-byes
When there's so much that's left
    Unspoken in your eyes
But unless I spread my wings again
    I'm afraid I'll never soar
So kiss me for the last time
And hold me close once more

    Once more
    Just once before I go
    I want you to know
That I have loved you all along
And even when we're far apart
I only need to feel you're living in my heart
    And I'll be strong

You are the light that shines on me
You always were and you'll always be
So I had to let you know
    Just this once
    Just this once
    Before I go
You see me empty, Sir, do not pause and inquire, simply assume and refill.

You see, We Shall All Be Healed IS fantastic, but I always have a 4-way tie for best, with All Hial West Texas, Zopilote Machine, Tallahassee, and WSABH. I suspect once I buy The Coroner's Gambit and Full Force Galesburg I'll add those two as well
