man these guys seriously don't get enough love.

like a scarier, more experimental black sabbath!

slower than George Bush and heavier than Roseanne Barr!!!

man they rule. listening to Houdini now.

hooch, hag me, night goat, goin' blind, all amazing songs.

like pj and mudhoney one of three of the only seattle bands still going.

recent stuff is majorly crazy and some recent albums with jello biafra out there also.

like the neil young of grunge.

their trilogy of the bootlicker, the crybaby and the maggot is not to be missed

the melvins are a small-dose-only band to me. they are historically very overlooked and under-recognised though. i'm glad i got to see them live opening for tool a few years back... "let it all be" is a classic. also saw phantomas a few months ago, buzz is a nutcase on the geetar to this day. that show by the way consisted of 90 minutes of semi-orchestrated noise. they were on for a soild hour and a half and didn't play one recognisable song, just one big soundscape, quite the headtrip
if you love somebody, set them free. if somebody loves you, don't fuck up
  • I LOVE Houndini! Going Blind is my favorite song on that!
"If she don't love me no more, i know her sister will" Jimi Hendrix
  • LOVE THE MELVINS !!!

Saw them a couple years ago with Tomahawk in Detroit. They just blew me away. Earlier that day me and a friend got to have dinner with them before the show. It was a great experiance meeting them and geting to see them. Just Amazing!!

actually, I haven't heard too much, but I have the Maggot and NEver Breathe What you Can't See (with Jello)

They are really awesome. One of the heaviest bands ever. They're up there with Soundgarden, Sabbath, and Electric Wizard.

I thoroughly enjoy the Melvins. I'm a huge Mike Patton fan and while I had heard of the Melvins, I only got into them after they did that album with Fantomas.

Buzzo is the reason that I play guitar. Huge Melvins fan going on about 15 years now. I can't stand Fantomas though.

right on. Acid King is cool. If you like Dale (drummer) check out his band Altamont. Also, the old bass player (Mark D) put out a good album a few years back called The Silent Treatment.

Melvins are one of my top three favorite bands easily. I don't really know that I'd call them a Seattle band, though. Didn't they move straight to San Fran from Aberdeen? Maybe not and I'm just splitting hairs. Who cares anyway.

Melvins fans...anyone hear anything new about the Isis split?

count me as a big Melvins fan, though my CD collection only included 3 of their albums. Definitly need to add some of their latest albums, well, since the 90's ended. Love Houdini and Stoner Witch. Saw them once opening for Helmet in 1997 in a bar in London, Ontario, and they were fucking awesome. Love some of their riffs and their approach to song writing

Count me in on the Melvins bandwagon! Been a fan for a long time, Nirvana got me into them. Wished they collaberated. But Dale did hit the skins for them in their earlier days.
  • love them, too. they still rock after all these years.
anyone here heard their collaboration with jello biafra?
    very good lyrics. amazing record.

pigs of the roman empire is amazing. lustmord is the man. Heresy is probably the most disturbing album of all time
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"
  • I saw the Melvins probably 1998 or 1999 not sure exactly when. They opened up for Helmet and it was a very small gig. I thught they were good. I was very impressed and I felt honored to had seen them.

  • After over twenty years, The Melvins are one of the most exciting bands around. They are totally pushing the limits of hard rock like no other band around is doing. Totally pissed that I missed them this September.
    Jimmy Carter has disco fever.
