I didn't listen to the entire thing, but I like it so far.....I've loved every album they have out out though too.

They played a release party in NYC last night - I wanted to go, but had to work late!
    My lips are shaking.......
  • From what I've heard, it's a lot softer than I expected. Especially since I had heard that they had intended on making this their heaviest album to date.
Minneapolis 98, Chicago 00, San Fransisco 00, Fargo 03, Thunder Bay 05, St Paul 06 (night 2), Chicago 08 (EV) both nights

    Don't it make you smile?

    Hahaha.

But yeah, Staind are absolutely horrible.
  • I went and saw Aaron Lewis play live at Mohegan Sun Casino back in February....great show, played some staind songs as well as covers including a cover of Black...the guy sings with so much passion and has such a powerful voice...Anyway, here's the link to the show - check it out

I haven't heard it yet, but I really hope that they go back to their old roots and make a harder album- the past couple have been pretty weak

Staind... wow i can't believe they are still making "new" music. when i got there first album(Dysfunction was it?) it had a good heavy vibe and i listened to it a lot. next album (break the cycle) came out and unfortunately, the song that made them POPular (it's been a while) was a more timid song. so of course, the singles they made afterwards were more like this timid song.

to me staind is like coldplay. i think they have talented musicians, but everything they put out has this predictable sound. i just can't get passed it.

i thought Chapter V was an all around good album and this new one is on par with all the rest of them

as far as going back to their roots, isnt going to happen, they are older now and i think they are comfortable in the music they are making
  • I was a bit surprised reading this article:http://www.masslive.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2008/08/staind_returns_with_strong_new.html

"With a history that includes being one of only five bands to have three consecutive albums debut at Number One on the Billboard charts, the band has quite a legacy. Mushok insists he wasn't feeling the pressure of past success."

"Championed by Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit, the band was signed by Flip/Elektra and released "dysfunction" in 1999. The record went double platinum and the band continued to put up staggering numbers. "Break The Cycle" went five-times platinum, followed by platinum releases in 2003 ("14 Shades of Grey") and 2005 ("Chapter V")."

I didn't realize they were so successful.

  • they aren't.

Their last 2 albums tanked and got panned by critics.
