i cant believe they are actually good. i almost wanna hear them now, but i dont know if i could look the store clerk in the face if i was purchasing a hanson album.soulsinging wrote:finally saw them last night. i haven't seen a band jam like that since the black crowes. i fucking hate lenny kravitz, but they managed to toss in an 8 minute cover of 'let love rule' complete with bass solos and dueling guitars and it was excellent. those guys can sing too... very soulful vocals and great harmonies. the floor of the house of blues was literally bouncing.0 -

im going to see them with my girlfriend soon. i signed on as a favor, but recently she picked up a live album of theirs that i listened to... and these guys can fucking jam! this is one of the grooviest live albums i've heard this side of the black fucking crowes!
i've also heard their new album and it's a far cry from the bubblegum pop that was mmbop... it's kinda unfair really. if not for that one single, these guys would probably be serious rock and roll stars. they've got a great, loose bluesy sound and great vocal harmonies. it's a shame nobody was willing to even play their album after that song. im willing to bet if you played this to any of your friends blind, they'd dig it.
ok... if yuo edited out the screaming girls in the background too, hehe. but im reasonably sure those fans have grown up or moved on.
so now im pretty stoked about seeing them.
I heard from a woman at work that Mandy Moore is on tour. Maybe you can get some front row seats if you hurry.0 -
I would listen to Hanson, but I have to admit, I would have a hard time gettin past their history, and they would maybe have to impress more than the average band.
They basically got signed for bein cute kids that played intruments. So what!
If they have impressed someone on a PJ message board they are already better than pretty much every other child musician gimmick ever. They deserve a chance to make some real music, and really, they should all be pretty damn good on their instruments.
My guess is that they are 10x better now, but it's pretty hard to suck as hard as mmmbop.
OK, there are 25 or so bands you could make a serious argument for best live band ever. The Black Crowes have got to be one of them. They are insane live, musically, and they song selection is tought to beat. I have a bit of a hard time believin that Hanson is as good as they are.0 -

i didnt say they were as good, i said they jammed. very bluesy and laid back and rocking. it was as purely american roots rock as it gets... only on the more CSNY side than the faces. they were produced as a gimmick act, but that's why they dropped off the radar. they always had talent, but they were scooped up and turned into a novelty act. as soon as they got old enough to figure it out, they fought back. i think they lost everything in trying to get out of their record contract and play the music they wanted, and now they're on an indie label. they basically play the same blues based music blues traveler and kenny wayne sheperd do, only with a decent knack for a pop hook and great vocal harmonies.
for mmmbop, they joked about it being 10 years old, then slipped it into an acoustic set... the drummer was playing bongos, there was a tambourine, and an acoustic guitar. it's still an annoying song, but they made it honest and goofy and then moved on with their set.
if y'all are too embarrassed, try downloading a few tunes like:
this time around
if only
the great divide
blue sky
go
tearing it down
also, look for their cover of radiohead's 'optimistic'
now if you're a big heavy metal or indie fan, it still might not be to your liking. they're still definitely on the pop side of rock. but it's good music.0 -
MEAN PEOPLE SUCK!!!

So I'll just lie down and wait for the dream
