im on a kick lately... and i thought a change of pace from the dreary grunge and pretentious indie bullshit that dominates this place might be a damn good thing. anyone like a little fun(k) with their music around here anymore? can you all stop furrowing your brows with the weight of the fucking world and how hard it is being as deep as you for an hour to maybe enjoy yourself, crack a smile and shake that ass? i know stone is with me on this one!

    it's all about sly man...

    as far as george clinton's stuff goes i do prefer those early 70s Funkadelic albums though

    curtis mayfield and the temptations, though most would just consider them soul, also had some awesome funky tunes
    I've faced it, a life wasted, and I'm never going back again.

    and hell yes, about damn time there was some props given to funk. i've tried bringing it up in this forum along with soul, old school R&B, and it goes down like a cheap ho :o

    and i love blasting sly in my car on a hot sunny day with the windows rolled down, it just says summer to me :)

    one of my husband's bands plays a LOT of funk...many of the songs listed in the first post, and hell yea....they go over like a house on fire, people love it...always good times!
