new pornographers- challengers

anyone heard this album? i know it's not out yet, but i was wondering if it has leaked or anything. i was pretty excited for it, but i have to say im REALLY underwhelmed by the single. one of the least interesting tunes i've ever heard from them. im still going to see them in october i think, im just hoping they can keep up their consistent run of brilliant albums.

    It sounds pretty good to me so far. I've only listened once, so I haven't had time to really digest it yet.

    is it a large departure from their usual sound? the single just sounded... i guess less slick than some of their stuff. they branched out a bit with twin cinemas, but they still had a pretty much unrivaled grasp of how to write a brilliant and catchy pop song. the new one seemed way more unfocused.

    Yeah, it leaked 3-4 weeks ago. I have given it many listens and like it a lot. Not sure where I would rank it compared to their others, but it is right there with those IMO. I am especially digging the Dan Bejar tracks on the album.

    If you prefer to be legit, you can also preorder the CD at indie shops and they'll give you a password for a free stream of the new record.

    They played some of the new stuff at Pitchfork and it sounded pretty good. It might take a little time to warm up to it.

    How was the pitchfork festival as a whole? Lots of cool bands playing I saw...probably would have gone if it wasn't for Lolla. Also, was Neko there?

    I'll be seeing them in October here in MN, they put on a fun live show!

    It was okay. I think Lolla will be better. Neko didn't play with them at Pitchfork, but I've heard she will be for the fall dates.

    lolla has muse. hysteria would melt the brains of every act that was at pitchfork. of course it will be better ;)

    my right versus yours just kinda bored me. i kept expecting it to build like bleeding heart show or something, and it didnt. just kinda bumped along. i might appreciate it more in context though.
