Im only seeing shows this summer in which I dont have to buy tickets through them, I just cannot afford to pay prices like that for an hour or two of entertainment right now

Stop paying these fools....that's the only way to change it. I've started sacrifices shows to take a stand....I used to go to 15-20 shows a year, five years ago....but in the last 3 years..other than PJ shows via TenClub...I've used ticketmaster twice for Chris Cornell....and I felt dirty afterwards.

big deal, you got taxed 15 bucks. if you really want to see the show that shouldn't be a problem. i'd be more pissed off at how much the gas cost to drive to the show and then the parking which i'm sure will be overpriced as well........and then once you get in the 8 dollar beers which you may or may not be drinking. anyway i think the bigger problem here is that you're going to see 311, but to each is own.

    maybe 2.00 worth of gas
    parking is free
as are beers in the casino
17.00 on top of the base ticket is bullshit, fortunately i can afford it
why do you care if someone is going to 311? I mean, you must obviously be a loser with a screenname of "Tiki Barber". do you support the Loser Giants also?

to pjoasis since i'm not going to quote two people....you say 311 isn't exactly an unrespectable band.......well i happen to disagree but it's all a matter of opinion, i think they suck but i don't care if you like them, i probably shouldn't have even said anything about that because it seems to have taken away from the real purpose of my post. anyway my point is that in all the ways we get ripped off in the united states these days with gas prices, health care, taxes, concessions at concerts/sports events etc., blah blah blah the list goes on.....it just seems a little petty to complain about a rather small service charge for a ticket to a concert which is already at a rather reasonable price compared to some other shows you might want to see. that's all i was trying to say. and am i a supporter of the "loser giants"? fuck yeah i am. fan since the day i was born, sorry i don't choose my teams based on wins during the given season. i'm die hard and our time will come again. you can count on that.

for the record, 311 is one of the best live bands touring today. You should check out a live show before making an ignorant statement like that.
Nevermind, I saw like three other thread where all you say is "This band sucks"....you're one of those types...you'll never get it, so just forget it....unless you have to get the last word in...then go ahead.

for the record you are the one who is being ignorant. i simply stated my OPINION, and i let it be known that it was an OPINION. saying they're one of the best live bands touring today is an OPINION, i personally don't like them, i don't like their style, i don't like their songs, i was a fan in high school so yes i have listened to all of their albums up to i'm guessing around '99 when i grew out of their music. anyway i don't know what is so hard to understand about that, and i don't know why you think that someone who really doesn't like the band is gonna all of a sudden change his mind because you happend to think they are some phenomenal live act. (and in your mind they very well might be, and i'm not doubting their talent) anyway if you read my post you would've realized that i wasn't trying to get into an argument about 311, that wasn't my focus and it wasn't part of the point i was trying to make but you asked for it.

by the way indian summer. since you think 311 is one of the best live bands touring today, can you name the few bands that are better. i'm interested in what kind of live acts you enjoy if you are saying 311 is so great. i'm not trying to talk down on you're opinion, just trying to get an idea of your taste, because there are a lot of great live bands i can think of and for anyone to put 311 up with the best of them just surprises me.

some of the best live shows i've seen: Pearl Jam, Chris Cornell, STP, Eric Clapton, My Morning Jacket, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, and 311.......that's about the best that i've seen.

Did you have the option of going to the venue to buy them and not pay the service charges?

People always complain about the high fees (which they are high) but for the most part, they are optional. Most of the time you have the option of driving to the venue box office and buying them there. It's a convenience to sit at home in your underwear and buy tickets for just about anywhere in the world, and as long as people will pay for that premium, the fees will be high.

okay well your mention of my morning jacket, clapton, and obviously pearl jam makes me value your opinion a little more. i know robert randolph is pretty amazing too although i'm not too into his songs too much. i just can't get into 311. but like i said it's all a matter of opinion.........also if you haven't already check out the new pornographers, of montreal, and the flaming lips, very good live bands among others. i'm also a big fan of the dreaded rhcp show, although i've only seen them 3 times on 3 different tours so i haven't been able to experience the repetitiveness of their sets which i hear they are notorious for.
